I like Serverless architecture but think that people underestimate how much your workflow needs to change compared to working on a monolithic server application. For example, testing a logging are harder IMO because 1 unit of work may involve multiple services. Managed services are great but they come at the cost of increased architectural complexity for all but the most trivial backends.

I used to think I knew aws, then I learnt aws and realized that I would never know all of aws, and that’s ok.

Have you used Architect in any project and if so would you recommend it over Terraform / AWS CDK? We are working on setting up Infrastructure as code at work right now so would love some input.
@devagr2 жыл бұрын
I haven't used it so far, planning to use it soon. Not sure if it is fully production ready, it's relatively recent. Like I said, this area is actively being worked on. Soon you might not even need to set up any Infrastructure as Code. At this point Terraform/CDK is really only useful if you need A LOT OF control over your cloud infrastructure. If not, there are better abstractions like Architect.
@wezter962 жыл бұрын
@@devagr Is it actually that recent? It seems to date back at least 5 years?
@devagr2 жыл бұрын
@@wezter96 That is true, I personally look at stats like github stars and downloads, and what other projects are using it. Begin (begin.com/) seems to be the primary FWA framework that is built on top of Architect, and it seems to still be in an unstable state. The other thing that might interest you is serverless cloud (www.serverless.com/cloud/).

@@wezter96 It was clarified to me that Architect is in fact very production ready, so I'd say go ahead and start playing with it!

Somebody please post a link to the Architect framework's official github?/site? I couldn't find them.

you can be annoying, you can have an annoying accent, or you can actually have both!
@devagr2 жыл бұрын
True! It's unfortunate that you don't have a recent video so I can't figure out if you have an annoying accent or not, but you're definitely demonstrating your ability to be annoying
