Ron is becoming more sensitive because he was about to tell Lana she spelled "Weasel" wrong but stopped himself when he realized it didn't matter at that moment. He's such a default logical thinker with a mishcievous side that needs to needle people's reactions for his own entertainment while Lana is a sensitive, caring, but insightful and intelligent about navigating social groups with sincerity. They compliment each other well.
