Dreamcatcher. Seven years ago, I had no idea what I'd be. Would I even see tomorrow? Would I get to touch the sea? I wanted to grow up fast, I wanted time to fly. I wanted it to be the future-and so time did fly by. I remember saying this to my sweet dear friends, We were playing in the yard, chopping leaves, cutting stems: "Let's all grow up together! Travel the world someday!" They all screamed in agreement, shouting "yeses" and "okays." We talked over the loud ticking of our big old clock, Sharing dreams, exchanging thoughts about the new kid on the block. Little did I know the clock heard my wish; The once rhythmic ticking, now replaced with a swish. In the blink of an eye, all there was was darkness, And pin-dropping silence; scared senseless, I couldn't move- As if my hands were tied and my feet were rooted. I let out a piercing scream, but all that came out was a whisper, A silent prayer. Then there was light. Now there was a beacon to my plight. My eyes fluttered open-they were closed all this time? I can hear a familiar voice saying, "You have to be on time!" I am but a kid who grew up too soon. Once upon a time, I was playing, but now it's noon. I'll now have to soar to worlds unknown; I got up from my bed-all along, I was home.
