I'm day five on quitting alcohol and cigarettes, and don't really have anybody to share this with. I've been repeatedly trying to quit for years because of heavy alcoholism, I've been planning my weekly routine around the days I drink for a decade. I don't want to tell anybody except a couple close friends because it's just "there he goes again, trying to quit and not really doing it." I'm trying to evolve and keep it private until I actually have something to show for it, so this coming up on my recommended feed is very welcome.

@@moonboots1003 our consciousness didn't just suddenly appear after so many millions of years of "evolution". We are not our bodies and there is more to this world/universe than what we are capable of seeing with our eyes and human minds. I truly thought we came from an explosion and star matter at a certain point in my life, but it just isn't so. Just like you can't see the wind but you can feel it, God is everywhere and this physical world is a fraction of his beauty (that we have desecrated and ruined) and a stark reminder of his power and glory. I've been saved from the brink of physical death a handful of times. I'm not sure what that does to a person but I feel certain there is an afterlife and we are being lied to about our true nature by scientists and intellectuals.

I'm going through a period of picking up the pieces of a confidence I had at one point in my life. I've never been a particularly confident person, but I had a certain wit and charm to me that I lost over the years - working a job you hate can take a lot out of you. I recently quit that job and I'm setting myself up to work in a well paying finance position in the near future, either a financial analyst or research associate. Working a job you hate really does a number on you. If you're on the edge and in the same position I was, I recommend you take the plunge and leave when you get the chance. Reading this I identified myself a lot. For a long period of my life I was in jobs that I wasn't happy with either, I couldn't give an idea, I couldn't innovate or question. It had to be a robot. Thank God, I started to dedicate myself to and recognize my creator more, I got really into self-discovery and studying, moving away from certain people and environments. And then my life started to change completely. I wish success for you my friend and for all of us in this journey called "life".
