Loooved this episode so much! So many gems! I'm in my 10th year of (intentional) singleness, finding my purpose, strengthening family ties and being of service to others. I particularly enjoyed the message about the devil sending counterfeits. So true! Many men will parade as Christians but, deep down, they are corrupt and deceitful. Ladies, I urge you to follow your instinct. Be in tune with your emotions, your purpose and your menstrual cycle. A woman's instinct is the holy spirit guiding you from within. Hugs and kisses to Renee and Courtney

As a sister who’s had a similar experience to this dilemma, I think you both have said it all! I wish I could’ve had that advice during my time, or better put, had the willingness to follow the advice. There will be a lot to unpack and heal from, if you decide to go a with the relationship. But in hindsight, I would say you are better off without that sort of relationship. They will probably never put you or your relationship first. You’re just a fresh relationship which they’re not as familiar with as that ex. The ex probably has a better rapport and affection with and from their family, which will make it more difficult if your partner is “family-oriented”. It might feel like you’re losing the best love you’ve experienced yet, but girl trust me God has better plans for you and you deserve more than this heartache and toxicity that might come from such a complicated relationship. Love and light!

I think a big thing to think about is that the previous “success” of marriage was at the expense of women. Men were largely doing whatever they wanted and the women had to suck it up or they would be *gasp* spinsters. As more and more women refuse that and a lot of men still want that, there is much less compatibility. It’s unlikely that women will go backwards so the onus is on men to voluntarily let go of the privilege they might’ve previously held. Marriage might be hard but it needs to be equally hard, not just hard for one party.

There are cons and pros to being single and married. One is not better than the other. Obvs being single is better than being w a toxic, manipulative, selfish, or abusive person. But when you're single, you have to figure how to do most of life alone. Your finances, aging, conflicts. If you plan on being single longterm, I'd suggest prioritizing your physical health and healthcare plan. No one checks in on you, holds you accountable for your mistakes, or helps you during hard times. While it's necessary to feel safe in our own company and silence, we weren't meant to handle everything alone. Ecclesiastes says that 2 are better than 1 for a reason. Certain growth we only get from ourselves, but other growth can only come from ppl in our lives. Community doesn't always mean romantic, but it is healthy to maintain longterm relationships be they family, friends, work, etc. I agree w a lot of what Courtney and Renee about not inviting ppl in who bring more problems than solutions, but it's also important to balance this discussion w the flipside too. No matter what you choose, single or married, it will come w hardships, easy doesn't exist. Even when you choose comfort, there are consequences of not taking advantage of time and opportunity. There will always be things you had to give up to prioritize something else. Understand all relationships will experience conflict because we're flawed humans w differences, but so do any goals we have in life. You have to work, compromise, persevere, learn when you're wrong or limited, utilize other ppl's strengths. Anything in life worth having requires work, and it flourishes only as much as you pour into it. No you cant control other ppl, but you can make sure your attitude and expectations are healthy-realistic. If you approach dating only for what you can get out of it for as little effort, do not expect much.

rolling listening to the bit about going back in history....my American history professor had this question on an exam...if you could live in one of the original 13 colonies which would you choose and why? My response: well, because I am a Black woman, I don't think any of the colonies would have been a safe place for me. And if I were in one of those colonies, it probably would not have been by choice. 🤣Her feedback, Fair enough. 😆😆😆

It even says in marriage vows “for richer AND for poorer”. People like to forget that and make it seem like relationships are bound to crumble if your finances do

As for the woman with the pregnancy scare, as Christians we have to set ourselves apart from the ways of the world, and that includes premarital sex. God's way is often the opposite of what's celebrated/normalized in modern culture. Waiting not only to properly get to know someone, but making sure the proper commitment's in place before we add more responsibilities (a child) into the equation. While we can tell God the desires of our hearts, we cannot force His timing or confuse His actions w our own. You cannot tell God what to do, who to bring in your life. But if you choose to do things your own way, hell respect your freedom of choice. But you will have to deal w the consequences of doing things outside His order. God did not tell you sleep w that man out of wedlock. Though single motherhood has become normalized, and I agree that unfortunately you're responsible for the child, It is not natural or the way that God intended the creation of human life and family. God intended 1 man to be attached to 1 woman. The man you're seeing should be unattached in physically, spiritually, romantically from any other woman (single) and choose to commit to you before you give him further access to you. The man you sleep with, should be someone you be someone youre comfortable having a child with because he's already shown his commitment to you. Any ambivalence or setbacks means the man is not committed to to you and you should NOT give access to your body, respurce, or spirit. All this might initially seem counterproductive given what's transpired, but moving forward adopting this mindset will help her from making the same mistakes. Do not make important decisions like your romantic/sexual partner based on emotion, but from logic. Hold yourself and the man to God's standard, not your own.

I'm going to be a somewhat unpopular opinion (no judgement) but can we not make abortion to be 'that option?' there are so many other options that include motherly and child provision, adoption, church support that doesn't mean this woman has to walk alone , into the clinic and walking out with a trauma that abortion gives (I mean abortion is literally dismembering and killing a human being, giving heart attacks through injection to a baby) and I agree abortion is not black and white and I wouldn't judge someone who has had an abortion before (and I don't think women who have had abortions should be legally punished, ignorance is very bliss for most people) literally anyone can be redeemed by Christ, our sins are not big enough that his blood doesn't cover (though our desires will be transformed and displaced to honouring him) , however it's saddening that this is the normalised option where there's so many out there that don't require such costs and yet don't get much recognition at all.
@iiceeglam10 ай бұрын
I think this is in a fairytale world because most time ppl claim they gonna help & be a village & when baby come everybody eye lock. The stigmas of single motherhood out of wedlock gonna have everyone judging you, especially the church people. Then if you don’t have the means even worse. Babies don’t deserve that. Ppl need to stop sinning & then tryna talk about babies being a blessing. Just for most of them same babies to be going through hell cause their parents are ill prepared.
