The lyrics kinda read of as like a western outlaw like Billy the kid in the process of robbing another business. *"Show me how to lie, you're getting better all the time* *And turning all against the one is an art that's hard to teach"* The narrator is an older outlaw which is impressed by Billy the kid who is quickly outpacing his own skill. Their craft is lies and deception. *"Another clever word sets off an unsuspecting herd* *And as you step back into line, a mob jumps to their feet"* Rather abruptly, they have gotten to their destination and fooling another victim out of their money, however it's not going their way as a mob forms. *"Now dance, fucker, dance, man, he never had a chance* *And no one even knew it was really only you"* Billy the kid draws out his gun to an unsuspecting crowd, they have no choice but to surrender. They had no clue that it was the kid which they should have been looking out for. *"And now you steal away* *Take him out today"* They get to business robbing the estate, they take out a someone who tries to be a hero. *"Nice work you did* *You're gonna go far, kid"* Praises are given round to Billy, they'd likely all be dead without him. "You're gonna go far kid" could be taken sarcastically, as their line of work often leads to a early grave. *"With a thousand lies and a good disguise* *Hit 'em right between the eyes* *Hit 'em right between the eyes* *When you walk away, nothing more to say* *See the lightning in your eyes* *See 'em running for their lives"* More general description of an outlaw, the process of turning men into cowards by waving guns in their faces. *"Slowly out of line, and drifting closer in your sight* *So play it out, I'm wide awake, it's a scene about me* *There's something in your way and now someone is gonna pay* *And if you can't get what you want, well, it's all because of me"* The narrator has been working with Billy the Kid for quite some time now and they have been pretty well off, however there is no honor among thieves. He's posturing himself to pull a fast on on Billy the kid, giving Billy an ultimatum "There's something in your way [me] and now someone's gonna pay [you]" "And if you can't get what you want, well, it's all because of me" (The narrator can't help but smile as he says this, he's gonna be a rich man soon, like taking candy from a baby) *"Now dance, fucker, dance, man, I never had a chance* *And no one even knew, it was really only you* *And now you'll lead the way* *Show the light of day* *Nice work you did* *You're gonna go far, kid* *Trust deceived"* However the narrator is too late, Billy had the same thing in mind. Billy robs his friend blind, the narrator is in shock and awe, he got played like a fiddle. To this day he sings tales on how he was bested by Billy the kid. *"Clever alibis, Lord of the Flies"* Another nickname. Man of many faces, leaves not a trace of the scene other than the fallen devoured by flies. Of course "lord of the flies" is also a reference to a name of a book which is likely inspiration for the song.

It's interesting how even without a deep understanding of the style being emulated, I can still tell the writing of the song is anachronistic with the instrumentation. It's almost like how you can tell what decade a song was from if you've listened to enough music from that decade.

You have no idea how happy I am that you chose to make a cover of this song, Melodicka Bros style! I'm not even like... It's not because I'm a heavy fan of the original band Or have some special, deep backstory behind why this excites me... ...It's more like when you're in class or something And they announce that instead of Pizza or sandwiches, They're going to serve your favorite food Which might be Pho or Ramen... That's what it feels like to me; Discovering Melodicka Bros have covered something that i WANT to listen to now, Something that makes me heart rush with happiness And click so fast 😂😂 And doing it in this Saloon style was PERFECT! Again not because I'm a fan of the Western genre, But because A) That is so on-point for Melodicka Bros B) That suits this song really, really well!!! So! My day just got more awesome, Thanks guys 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
