Yeah, once in a lifetime thing, yet absolutely pissed away from being worth a rewatch. The first had moments. The second a lot more enjoyable, but this one really wasted Gibson and some other stars. Ultimately they are all lacking in being more substantial, even if there are good action sequences in them.

Yeah, this scene is stupid. It would be better that Barnie shocked to find out the target is Stonebank, and he is starring right into the container they're at. Barnie sense the danger, order to call off mission but Stonebanks's henchman open fired first. Turn out it was an ambush, that Stonebanks was expecting them all along, and knows full well how expendables works (since he's a founding member.) That would justify Barnie seeking new talent, for adopting new tactics and new thinking so they might have a chance to outsmart Stonebanks.
