I think society really changed after 2013 with smartphones, social media, and other nonsense. sure we already had phones and social media in the early 2000s. but I feel like people don't spend all their time on that stuff. people still knock on the door when visiting friends houses instead of texting "Im outside" or "here" 😆
@JuanAppleseed-ge6tb3 ай бұрын
@@michaelangelo1202 you're 100% right. I deployed to Afghanistan in spring of 2012 and got back late spring of 2013. Before deployment: people knocked on doors, people actually hung out with each other at house parties, people were relatively aware of their surroundings, etc. After deployment: people text you when they are in the driveway, 90% of people at a house party are sitting down on their phone 🥴, and you see zombies wondering around in public oblivious to what's around them. There is only one you in this world, you have just as much of a right to be here as everyone else. Keep going for the kid who wanted to grow up so bad, keep your head up, it's your time to shine. Imagine this. It's 2014 and you are at your school prom. Everyone's having fun in the gymnasium where the party is going on and your friend group is busy talking with other people. You, being tired because it's nighttime, decided to walk out and head to the bathroom. Once you entered, all you hear is the distant music of the lively party. Yet, in this bathroom, you feel at peace. No stress and you can hang around for a bit longer. For a moment, you didn't care for anything and just zoned out as you looked at yourself in the mirror. Then, you head out. Remembering this scene as but a moment of peace in your memories, without noticing that your mind has made it the core memory that you will remember for the days to come.

2013 was the best year for me too, I was a Freshman in university. My dad and I reconciled. I went on three trips that year and had my first relationship. Quite the whirlwind.

2009 to around 2014 were amazing years for me. We were finally getting over the pain and dread of those post-9/11 years and social media didn't become the all-consuming phenomenon it is today.

The EDM explosion of the early 2010s was our generations version of Disco in the 70s.. euphoric music that provoked togetherness and just a fucking good vibe

You were brought to the club by a friend, but you didn't really fit in. They're still in no mood to leave the club, and you're having a hard time. And you're alone in a private bathroom, tweeting: "I wish I was at home playing video games."
