We stayed with a friend of theirs who had a daughter our age in Doncaster and she took us out to meet her friends who were very excited to meet Canadians. There were some boys playing football in the field who came up and said to our host "are these the Canadians? They're mint! What do they speak, French?!" And my cousin looks at him and says "we speak better English than you! I can't even understand what the heck half of you are saying!". I was mortified lmao. I grew up watching British TV shows so had no issue with any of the accents in any of England or Scottland, her however struggled really bad.
