Great tips and I always write what I want and don’t follow the crowd. Editing is the most costly but best if you want literary readers and acknowledgment! I did professional editor is must! I’ve Obtained Five book awards so far so it worth it!

Thank you for your helpful suggestions, especially the idea of using videos to promote my books, despite my shy and reserved nature. I took your advice to heart and considered what type of content would resonate with my readers or KZbin followers, while also suiting my comfort level. After some thought, I realized that while there are many traditional book promotion videos out there, that approach wasn't right for me. Instead, as a Fantasy Fiction writer, I decided to create videos that explore the world I've built. Using PowerPoint as my tool, I've been able to produce content that people seem to enjoy, and it feels authentic and aligned with my books."

I'm one of the ones who wanted to write because I wanted to write. I've now published two books. One of the ones I've always heard is "You're not an author if you self-publish".

I've heard that one too. So goofy!

We're at a turning point where more and more people realize what a detriment tradpub can be to authentic storytelling. Not to mention, the pithy advances authors get (with no guarantee of a return) in exchange for relinquishing their rights to their own work.

I wrote my book so I could help other women over 50 to eat healthier to lose weight and keep it off base on my personal experiences, or anyone in general who would find it beneficial, it took me a long time to write and cost a lot, it has been a learning experience about writing, the whole process has been an experience, thanks to Dale I have learned a lot from his KZbin content. I’m yet to make any money on this book and that’s fine with me, as long as someone reads it and learn a thing or two from the book that is all that matters. Thanks Dale for your great content. ❤

I love this comment with every fiber of my being. You're doing such great work and making an impact in the world. I hope your books take off and this business treats you well. Even if it doesn't you seem happy and fulfilled. THAT'S what's important.

I was a hobbyist writer for the most part. Until last year when I published my Welsh Crime thriller series. But because its now generating real money from it I am looking on an exit strategy from my regular day job.

Ugh! I remember those days of formatting with pictures when I was using Word. Add pictures, put it in Calibre to see how it looks. Still not right. Go back to Word, move image a little. Put it in Calibre, ugh! Still not right. Think my hair went more grayer during that time.

We have the same editing process 😂 that makes me feel good about it, lol. I get it to my editor after my Alpha readers read it, and then I edit again before my editor gets it. It's a journey indeed but very important to me. I paid around $750, but that's a total for two Editor's, one did the main story in the book, and i have a few short stories in the back that my other editor did. I have formatter who is amazing and is also an author. My cover was $1300, for this story I will keep the same artist. I have done all my other covers, been learning for a few years now, and I'm confident in typo and object based covers. I'm going to be talking about all this in my new video this weekend. Working on networking better, your book is helping. Thanks so much for the video, Dale.🎉

Just finished the cover of my upcoming book, which I hope to have ready to publish by the 15th of this month! False arrests for alleged DUI are quickly becoming a major problem throughout the country. I just found a lawyer in West by god Virginia who says the same thing on his website.

The fountain pen and aged papyrus comment cracked me up. LOL. Personally I believe that writing should be fun. The whole creative process should be a blast. The fun ends once I get the idea of publishing a work. Never should I even start thinking of publishing while writing that first draft (and I do) because it puts me off from finishing it. I ask myself if it's going to be any good, will it meet the genre's expectations and so on. The fun vanishes and I'm stuck with the grueling job of finishing the piece. That first draft should be all about me and learning my craft as a storyteller. When I did my macabre audio soap opera I never rewrote a single line of dialogue. The shows went out as is and it was fun. Does that make sense?

@DaleLRoberts I have gotten to the point where I don't consider myself as an author. At least not at the moment. I call myself a storyteller. Isn't that what fiction writing is? 😁

Hello again, Dale! This is O'Cyrus. If possible, I wanted to ask you a publishing related question. A few days ago I asked Julie (from Book Launchers) if she knew of any POD's that specialize in board books. Unfortunately, she said she was not aware of such, however, she was generous to provide me with your name as well as April Cox as a point of reference. I reached out to April a moment ago and making my way to you. If possible, could you please appoint me in the right direction good, Sir? Thank you!
@DaleLRoberts
@DaleLRoberts Ай бұрын
If you want board books, you're going to have to go with digital publishing companies where you pay the money upfront for a bulk order. Then you'd have to fulfill all print sales. Look into Puffer Print, Print Nation, or The Inkfluence. April might have better recommendations based on her track record of working with kid's book authors.

Sure, but be prepared to put in the same reps as everyone else (marketing, promotion, etc.). There's no easy button in self-publishing, regardless of the niche or type of content.

Hi Dale, sorry to bring this topic or issue here but I have lost hope in finding a contact information for KDP support team as I can't sign in. Because you need to sign in if you want to be able to contact them via chat. Is there a way as I have issues with my OTP ( a one time password verification code) which I am not receiving into my phone. 😢 My email and password are fine but for some reasons I am faced with that verification thing which turned to be a nightmare after I changed the number where I should get it. But it's being sent or I don't know why I am not getting it. Then when I try multiple time they say that they have sent me a lot of OTPs and I should try later. Your help is immensely appreciated Dale 🙏
@DaleLRoberts
@DaleLRoberts Ай бұрын
Ooo, that's a tough one. Do you have any emails that KDP has sent you before? Maybe reply to those emails to see if you ping someone. The only other way I could see is signing in with a different login, but you run the risk of being caught opening multiple accounts. Maybe once you get someone in customer service, explain the extenuating circumstances and ask that they delete your temporary account after you open it. You shouldn't have to fill out the tax and banking info in order to hit the "Contact Us" feature. Again, kinda risky but at this point, you're stuck between a rock and a hard place.
