Your own words about the difference between being a great artist and a great performer, or the blessing of being both, reminded me of this: "La Bohème" by Charles Aznavour, live on TV sometime in the early 60s. Every performance was exceptional. He was Sandro de America because he belonged to every nation. Sandro sold out Madison Square Garden, before it was a "thing". He was called the Latino Elvis. Yeah the song's name means Shadows but it isn't what you think. On every of his concerts he used to sing that song because it was at night. When he talks about a blue light, a room and a company, obviously a person he is talking about making love. He describes his love one's skin with the moon's light. He compares her hair with the night and her eyes with the color of the sea. As I understand it he is telling her how much he loves her and asks her not to tell him to not love her as he do. Every day I goes to my media school in BANFIELD where Sandro had his home. Everybody knows where he had live, because his " nenas" - as him told lovely his fans- was always chasing him like the journalists do. His house was behind a big and tall wall, who cannot leave to see anything if you are not in a helicopter or fireman stairs, at the time doesn´t exist drones. Well the case is, every day , even if I lost some time to do it, I descend to my train coming from Gerli to Banfield, walking in front his door to see is I could see him. At the time I had not risources to buy a ticket for a concert. Days flow away... and I started to feel I am losing my oportunities to meet him. One day I take courage and ring the bell. My hearth was beating like a colibri heart. Myself I am a singer - and actress and now youtuber too- but at the time, I was a media school girl, innocent yet between 16 and 17 years old. Some seconds, maybe one or two minutes later, i hear a voice in the speaker in the wall nearby the door. It was a woman asking : Yes? and me, with a trembling voice, trying to be clare and lower: " hello, I am a fan of Mr Sandro... I would love to make him some interview from the school... " - what interview? I had improvised, wich I learn to do in theater... - I only want to have the possibilty to across this wall and door. The woman put voice in a neutral point she used to do for sure, to repel the thousand of request they surely had- : " El señor Sandro se encuentra de gira - he is making a tournee." and my world falles down... 🥲😪... i never isist again, having the suspect he was there, but he never really had received my requesto. He usually switched it up when he performed but there is another performance of this same song where its just him singing, no audience, and the background looks like he's outside by a tree in moonlight, he perfomed even better there, it does it more justice. Btw to give credit where its due he had an amazing writer, so it wasn't Sando that wrote the songs but he perfomed them very well. Check out "Asi" by him.
