Isn't Davekat technically entirely possible due to Troll Biology? I say it's entirely possible because the troll system works as two trolls spooge in a bucket, and it's carried off to the mother grub. If Kanaya got the orb, then theoretically, Dave and Karkles could spooge in a bucket and make a davekat baby. Correct me if I'm wrong.

They are hermaphrodites, but they're also dependent on the mother grub to birth them, suggesting they can't fear offspring on their own. It wouldn't make sense for them to rely on another species to carry their young if they could just do it themselves, but since they do, and in terms of securing a new generation, the drones literally peer pressuring them into making more of themselves before they die, they have no reason to develop a functioning equivalent to a woomb. Features like that takes energy to create, and life is lazy by default. If a feature is not neccesary, evolution will edit it out. Humans no longer need tails to balance, and that's why they're reduced to a small vistigial bone, because they're expensive to have energy wise. Likewise, if trolls rely on the mother grub to birth their young, they have no reason to keep an internal system that would allow them to do so themselves. They've already got a solution for that. And unless that solution would be unavailable, like the mother grub ceasing to exist, they'd have no reason to redevelop a system for carrying young themselves. That's not to suggest they can't re evolve the ability to carry live offspring through the process of time. Since they still have a drive to mate within their own species, and not the mother grub directly, it suggests that they at one point in time, did reproduce directly without the mother grub or drones involved. But something changed which could only be resolved with relying on other species to secure their own. The instinct to mate clearly still remains, but with a stable enough system now put in place with the mother grub, it is highly likely that any attempts to rear offspring of their own would be fruitless. Even if they still technically have the anatomy for it, chances are it's either vistigial. Kind of like how cetatians technically still have a hip bone and legs, but they're been reduced to nothing more than a small bone.
