Self-taught here as well, and just like you said, you just got to take a chance and put yourself out there. Great video 👍🏿

Thank you so much for this video! This is actually really helpful! I've been studying non-stop these past couple of months and realized the hardest thing is keeping myself from self-doubting every now and then. I'll try to be more open-minded and maybe start applying soon. Good luck with your interviews!

That pretty piece of paper might get you more interviews, but the fact of the matter is that if you don’t have a solid portfolio that proves you can do the things your degree claims you can do, you still aren’t getting the job.

Big facts, it certainly opens doors.The only thing I’m jealous about is how students get internships

I think every job is this way. If you are 100% ready for the job then you probably aren’t challenging yourself. Everyone’s different, but I want to be challenged to continue learning more

As someone who is 35 and going to college for the first time, I can say there is college-level information available for free everywhere. Some of these how-to-code videos are on the same level as my college classes. LinkedIn, EdX, and Coursera all have validated training for fairly cheap. However, you are correct that nothing is really more valuable than a portfolio.

I’ve been learning for 11 months now. I have been programming in COBOL for 10+ years but needed to learn modern languages. Don’t know if I will ever feel ready. But I’m gonna do it anyway.

Wow loved it, thanks for the tips. Right now I am walking that path and I would like to know what possibilities you see for someone with a native Spanish language, who knows English at an intermediate level, who is learning to program in English on their own and who wants to go to work in an English-speaking country?

What type of PC do you recommend that I learn to code with? Laptop or desktop? Apple or Samsung? Or does it not matter? Thanks
@JeremiahPeoples2 жыл бұрын
I recommend a laptop so you can code on the go or in cafe’s if you choose. Programming isn’t too hard on your system so you don’t really need the top of the line laptops to develop
