I've been advising you for years to EDC these 3 fire makers a BIC, Keychain Ferro Rod, And a Wallet Fresnel Lens. They can be purchased on Amazon rather inexpensively. I'm not talking about only carrying these fire makers when you're camping, hiking, or hunting. I'm talking about carrying them on your person (or close to it) 24/7/365, Every Day Carry! Let me show you a very good option for making easy fire when you're without your standard fire makers. I used my reading glasses and some punk wood, leaves, and branches straight off the ground on a bright and sunny day. Please follow the LINKs below And SUBSCRIBE. Thank You! I have been carrying the bic, keychain ferro rod and fresnel lens. Today was too cloudy (PNW) for solar ignitions but will try when we get sun. Fun watching your demonstrations! I really enjoy my new Stanley pocket knife. Use it every day for a variety of things. Thanks!

The mini Bic lighter lives in my pocket w/some kind of pocket knife, Opinel, SAK, etc. Got Gorilla tape wrapped on it, too.

Another great video as usual with supper smart advice. The only thing I would add is to get out and practice because other than a lighter it ain't as easy as it looks sometimes. Keep up the great work of teaching those who want to learn.

I have been thoroughly enjoying watching your fire demonstrations! Today I made successful used BIC starts on Jute and punkwood. I tried an ashed Jute fireroll but no go. Fun day! Thanks!

Sometimes the Jute is too oily from the manufacturing process.

I carry a Bic, have a book of matches in my phone case, and my jacket zipper pulls are ferro rods, but I can use the lens on my glasses, or the steel wool behind the battery of my Ham radio.

@DavidWestBgood2ppl3 жыл бұрын
That's a great test. No bleeding off of the gas while in a person's back pocket.

Just an observation: the pine needles in western Montana will burn, but not nearly as flammable as those in your area.
@DavidWestBgood2ppl3 жыл бұрын
Our White Pine needles and cones don't burn well like our Loblolly do either.
