My car was/is there for months before too. No liability being admitted by Inchcape, so no, that guy was not agreeing a settlement figure, he was just signing a discalimer and getting his boggy belongings back. There were about 140 cars belonging to customers. The only saving grace is that about 100 customers have been loaned cars at no cost to the customer. but the big cost is not so far being covered and Inchcape are pretty much ingnoring most emails from customers.

@@mattwestby1169 I thought this too, but I guess they didn;'t manage to insure against flood as they were advised by the Envionmnetal Agency not to have the site where it is as it is a known flood plain... made even worse as The floodgate at derby city centre were closed at 6pm on Friday 20th... warnings were issued earlier in the afternoon, we just have to prove negligence now... that they were not heeded.

A quick 1 minute check of the flood maps shows that this company is based in a Level 3 flood zone. Locations in flood zone 3 have a high probability of flooding. Level 3 is the highest risk level. Who would think putting millions of pounds of cars in a high risk flood zone would be a great idea? Seems a bit sketchy to me.

The same people who thought building a house next to, and half inside a river was a good idea, which apparently it is. Every time I hear of floods, I think "The people are to blame for choosing to buy homes/businesses near rivers." And then I think of a house I saw on one of those BBC property programmes at least 10 years ago, maybe 20 years ago, which was in either the Lake District, Peak District or Yorkshire Dales, where half of the house was literally inside a river, and it was designed that way. The water was halfway up the reinforced windows, and got even higher in certain periods, plus would flood the house in seconds if they ever broke.

OS map 1969 shows the land between Chequers Road and the railway was unused except some allotment gardens and the railway's Chaddensden Siding on the river side but mostly vacant. Older maps showed the land undeveloped as well. Great video and flood alert! ☔⭐⭐⭐👍 Up to 2018 the site at the entrance was brick structure Elegant Doors with two octagonal upper story and warehouse/factory in the rear and beside it was the brick one storey Meadows Inn pub with function room. Site demolished 2018 and Inchcape Jaguar constructed 2019. No change in the Merecedes dealership next door. Elegant Doors relocated 2016 to a smaller unit in Sandiacre, Nottingham. Meadows Inn facebook last updated 2016. Evidently River Derwent is prone to flooding, articles from 2019 and 2021 as well as 2023 Storm Babet.

They're developing on known flood plains on a regular basis. A friend of mine is a carpenter and built several hundred timber framed houses and blocks of flats on flood plains in Bridgwater on the Somerset Levels. The whole site which is a few miles long is 20+ feet below sea level. He said it was a nightmare just moving about because the land was soaking wet. He was wearing chest waders. Even track laying vehicles were getting bogged down. He said there's not a way in the world he'd live there. I'm 55 and I learned in infants school that the wise man built his house upon the rock. It seems developers and planning departments didn't learn the same song, or more likely they chose money over common sense. I've lived in 4 houses, and not by accident, they've all been well over 100m above sea level.

The actual site looks high enough that it wouldn't flood but did, the ones the other side of the river look lower. I wonder how many of those motors ended up going for scrap!

@@DJAUDITS I know those car skates look a bit unconventional but, I’m a mechanic and we do use those sometimes. It depends on the situation. I think because they are a main dealer they have to follow certain rules and regs very strictly and due to the extent of the flooding, they were probably used to minimise and further damage to the internals of the engine and transmission, as they wouldn’t know how much water could be within, diluting lubricants and potentially causing further damage if the vehicles were moved on their wheels, as that could circulate the water throughout the internals. It does leave me wondering if they are actually going to be scrapped or if they are going to strip it for parts to sell on or sell the entire vehicle as is, otherwise you would think they would just move it by the easiest means possible because it is about to be turned into a metal cube 😂

The CAA website is clear on where people like us with DJI 249g drones can fly but then it states "Check for signs that say you cannot fly drones or model aircraft" I wanted to fly around Rutland Water but they've got no drone flying signs what would you do in these situations with no drone flying signage? You need to be careful around Rutland Water as they have protected birds nesting their and it is an offence to interfere with them. You may be able to fly with specific permission but you would need to contact Rutland Water Wildlife Reserve Directly and arrange it.
