I was about 13 or 14 years when I went to see this movie here in Mexico. Buying double albums like Saturday Night Fever, Grease, this one and FM was the standard. I realized that this was originally a three (well, two and a half) record album, so I went for the US version of this pressing. Well, I then thought that Polygram Mexico did a bad work printing records, and after buying the US version of this pressing everything changed: Now I was plenty sure! This is my favorite song from TGIF.

I got the movie though..I watch it for hours and hours at the time. Actually, I was born at the start of disco 1973...So I grew up on this stuff....I sure miss it though. This is better than today's crap music on the radio.

Would have loved to have seen and observed the cello player who was playing those runs during the interludes. Wow. Great music; sure do miss it. I agree, music today is trash (my parents used to say that about Disco), but I know Disco is not nearly as bad as the garbage they put out today; where's the creativity, artistic ability, true emotion, innocency, and even Godliness and Heavenly feel? Demonic and oppressive are good words regarding today's music. Garry

In my opinion the movie was not all that bad; it came out at the height and zenith of the Disco movement. It may have not been overly successful in most people's eyes but I loved it. Garry

The irony is that sampling makes today's music a confined recycled version of that old movie soundtrack you are talking about. But creativity is equally as good and emotionally intact, as you said we just have to look for it. Still, Disco was more grandiose than today with over 30 musicians, arrangers, producers and so on in a studio to create DANCE music, "almost" nothing like this today.

It's out there... you just don't hear it because you're not looking for it. You're basing that opinion on what you hear from mainstream media... and that's only a fraction of what us "kids" listen to... also, what suits your ears is completely differant to what the times were in your own era. There are a lot of differant aspects influences that go into making music today. To my young (obviously) untrained ears this sounds dated and like the soundtrack to an old movie!
