I'd say at $400, it's better than most projectors on Amazon. There are a lot of cheap no-name projectors on Amazon, but most of them aren't very good for what they promise. They claim around 10000 lumens, but their brightness is very low compared to name brand projectors. The image quality may not be good at 1080p since they're likely using 480p/720p upscaled to 1080p similar to the off-brand webcams and cameras. Lastly, a lot of cheap off-brand projectors allow streaming from mobile devices, but they don't let you use streaming apps which defeats the purpose. I suspect fan from the projector could affect hearing from the speakers. I do sometimes have problems hearing the TV since I often run fans and/or the AC which tends to drown out the sound from the TV/device. Using a headset can solve that although it may be comfortable to wear in high temperatures. The bigger screen does make a difference with local multiplayer as it would benefit games like Minecraft and Terraria where running in splitscreen may make items or text harder to see even on a 50 inch HDTV.
