A bad ending doesn't necessarily ruin a good show for me, but the same can't be said for a "no ending". One of the clearest examples of this for me is a show called Stars Align: one of my standout favorite shows of 2019, and all the more notable for being a sports show, a genre I don't normally spring for. Throughout the season, it steadily won me over with its crisp animation, multifaceted characters, and an endearing plot of a ragtag bunch of misfits learning to try their hardest to protect the one place they can feel like they belong. And then it just... ended. Abruptly. Right after a solid defeat that seemed more than anything like it was setting up a triumph later down the line. No plot threads resolved. No closure of any kind. It was just... over. And I can never think about this show I loved, anymore, without remembering how it utterly failed to make good on any of its promises. It's like it died, and I never got to say goodbye.

wonder egg was a really good weekly experience even with the delays and recap episode. the story just ended up biting off more than it could chew. still a really good anime original especially considering it only had 13 episodes
