I’m just over 2 years in and I’m 57 years old. I have a private teacher 1 hour a week from a music school and take classes an hour and a half a week. I practice an hour and half a day..........And I’m getting virtually nowhere. I haven’t quit yet but it’s very frustrating. I see videos like this and am just amazed. It’s a god given skill to a very high degree. Start young.

@@malmalbaby2 ....thanks for the reply. Now....I’m 4 years in and 59 years old. I haven’t quit yet but it’s still frustrating. There’s so much depth to learning this. @@ynotttt May I ask if you have a hobby you love and that makes you happy? If yes then why not invest more into that rather than spending time and money into the piano? Im probably too unexperienced in life (in contrast to you Sir) for discussions like these but if I may help then Ill try my best
@ynotttt3 жыл бұрын
@@endergreek4016 .......something inside you says “don’t quit just because it’s hard”. Piano is a long road best started when you’re very young. Some develop faster than others. I marvel at the ability I see in good players and have no doubt I would enjoy it at that level. Your right.. 8 out of 10 people quit. I’m trying work through the rudimentary difficult weeks, months and years. At some point I anticipate that’ll I’ll look back and say I came a long way and it was well worth it. I just don’t want to be 95 years old at that point. You said “Sir”.....I started looking around for my father.

Just practice. I never had lessons. And i ve been plaaying for 4 years now and i can call my self good. Just so something on the piano. It doesnt matter what. But they key parts are fingerplacements, and thr most important thing is to understand what ur doing. Keep learning from the teacher. You will get better. Goodluck!!!

It is so hard for me to be so in love with this instrument when it seems like I am making absolutely zero progress with, I'd say the only thing that keeps me invested is seeing something as wonderfully beautiful and magical as this and seeing how much joy it could potentially bring. And if I ever become even a tenth as talented as you are I am sure I would be invested enough to never want to stop playing! so I guess to get to the point, seeing you play so wonderfully and passionately is enough to motivate me to stay in love with this instrument!

Get a teacher if you can, they will point out your mistakes and correct them as soon as possible so you won't develop any bad habits and of course practice everyday. Playing decently is really achievable but it takes time, patience and hard work. Best of luck! Keep playing!
