I agree. There is something glorious about pounding away at some stupid level, burning through dozens and dozens of lives, only to beat the level and continue the run. We know it's possible. Sometimes it is. Sometimes it isn't. When it happens though it is really satisfying.

I'm not surprised to be honest. Ryu's uploads have been less enthusiastic since SMM2 came out. The lack of shell jumps, the 30 lives that make endless super expert impossible, the inevitable jank that goes with the new features... Overall, Ryu's incredible skill at SMM1 hasn't fully transposed in SMM2 and he seems a bit sad about it to me.

I do kinda miss this format. Having an END to work towards gives the whole thing stakes and makes it tense when you get close to the end but you're low on lives. In SMM2 when you're running out of lives it's like "well, yup, that was bound to happen." I mean, don't get me wrong I'm enjoying the new content too, but I do kinda miss these runs.

I LOVE midairs and miss them in MM2. Glad to see a good SE no skip; SE no skip sucks in MM2 with only 30 lives. MM2 basically makes you skip levels after a few losses instead of pushing through and allowing you to actually improve as a player. Looking forward to a SE#71.
