Normally with a duo one singer is stronger than the other. Now on this song you hear Bill & think wow! Then Bobby opens up & you think wow too! Both wonderful singers!

I've watched them perform several songs live in various venues, and they're always slightly different renditions. True jazz artists as they're timing and harmony are always in agreement despite the alterations. Lip sync that.

There are reasons why this song, this music, and the Righteous Brothers' powerful blue-eyed soul have stood the test of time. Bill and Bobby SLAY this song and even over 50 years later, it still sends chills down the spine.

The Righteous Bros Bobby Hatfield and Bill Melody were great.Actually Bobby's tenor voice and Bill Melody baritone voice shouldn't have blended together but they did and it was pure magic. They both had unique voices. But Bobby doing Unchained Melody on the Andy Williams show was sheer perfection. Bill is smooth as silk on this song. And right when he has the crowd at his mercy Bobby slips in and delivers what may be the most powerful and gut wrenching set of notes in music history. That second “I need your love” and the two “bring it on back”s steal the song. Just incredible by both men

I've got their 25th anniversary T-shirt that Bill wiped his forehead on and personally signed it several years later. Bobby passed away just after I saw him performing in San Diego, Ca. What a legacy this duo created. God Bless you both, Jack.

The Righteous Brothers did come to England very briefly in 1965 to promote the record (Spector's idea) because Cilla Black had come out with the cover just a week before them. Incidentally, the Rolling Stones met them at the airport. Then Bill returned to the UK, Wembley stadium in 2013 for a full performance.

Bobby sang in London with producer Richard Perry 1971. Sessions for Hatfield’s planned album began at Apple, the studio owned by the recently-disbanded Beatles at Apple Studios in London, Perry enlisted the cream of the crop to accompany the singer: Ringo Starr and included George Harrison and Nearly as unexpected is Hatfield’s cover of a then even newer song from George Harrison, “What is Life. That’s manny things about Bobby that are recently being emerged from obscurity. After almost 50 years, Omnivore Recordings has righted that wrong with the release of Stay with Me: The Richard Perry Sessions.

In addition to his glorious vocals, how could miss the magic of Bobby's charm and stage presence? I would be happy to have the camera just stay fixed on his smile lighting up the stage! Not to feature Bobby's incomparable vocals at least equally is a colossal waste of talent . And seems to me an obvious marketing miss. Listen to the audience reaction 3:55 when Bobby engages saying "alright" and smiling ..💖

It is also apparent throughout their time together, that it was Bobby, almost like a living metronome, kept the proper pace. He sings in perfect tempo while looking to the audience. Bill almost messed up, see 2:49-2:51, but then he glances over to Bobby and resumes at the correct time point.

Cheryl, there is no better version than the original. I'm from Longford, Ireland, and although this song has been covered by countless artists, in my home country, only the original Righteous Brothers version has charted. It has charted in Ireland on two occasions, first in January 1965 and second in December 1990. It has peaked at Number 2 on both occasions.
