The most likely reason for the two dishwashers is that the former resident kept a strictly kosher kitchen and needed to wash meat and dairy dishes separately.

A kosher tenant would have two refrigerators, one for dairy and one for meats separately. The refrigerator that is there is a fridge on one side and a freezer on the other side. Never-the-less, that is a great kitchen with a Wolf stove and Sub-Zero fridge/freezer, plenty of cook space, and cupboards. You could definitely make a great peanut butter and jelly sandwich there!

I doubt it's for a kosher kitchen. There are not double refrigerators or double sinks. More than likely it's for people who entertain a lot. There is a dining table for 8 with inserts to expand the table more than likely to seat 12.

Some people have 2 dishwashers for a much more basic reason: One for clean, one for dirty dishes.

Interesting- I have kept koscher for the majority of my life and have only one fridge and no dishwasher 😆🤷‍♀️ But I don't live in the USA 😄

I think it is in fact a kosher kitchen. If you go back you can see all the doors have mezuzahs.

Cash, you have my vote! Wonderful apartment and especially for people who enjoy doing a lot of entertaining. Great walk-in closets and so much can be done with the apartment: the room off the living area might be made into a home library or a studio for an artist. The windowless room could be a place for retreat and quiet. Someone is going to have a lot of enjoyment in living in this apartment.

It's moving on up to the Upper East Side again, an awesome apartment for the price at that location. Great kitchen for someone who cooks often. Who has a double oven, double dishwasher, double-size refrigerator, and a separate breakfast island unless you live on 57 St. I would use that nursery room as an office and den room. Great condo for a family. It will not last long on the market.

True but the vast majority of apartments in New York don't have much or any outdoor space due to them being in massive skyscrapers in an urban jungle. Essentially, if you want to buy or rent an apartment, don't expect much outdoor space. The city's beauty should compensate for that!

Cash, I believe that little bedroom at the end of the hall is for a nanny or maid. Maybe it’s not used that way now but rooms of that size that are not closets were used for the live in help.

The windowless room is where the nanny stays. They have 2 ovens/stoves and 2 dishwashers because they probably keep kosher.

Lovely apt....! Huge... and dare l say reasonably priced??!! Great for a well heeled power couple and their children... they would need a lot of crockery to fill up 2 dishwashers, but no queuing for the shower!, Too big for me,luv, but it gets a thumbs up. Also love the neighbourhood... libraries are among my favourite buildings... they smell so good! Books will never go out of fashion luv ... we oldies are still dedicated to print and paper! It's not so expensive for New York City, especially considering all you get, the building, and the neighborhood. I like that visitors have to remove their shoes. It keeps the apartment cleaner and whoever buys it will appreciate keeping the floors clean.

By code, a room designated as a bedroom must have direct access to the outside by door or window. So, that room was designed as a closet. Of course, code doesn't stop people from using closets as bedrooms, but that room is not technically a bedroom and is not allowed to be advertised as such in the listing.
