Wow. Thanks for showing me how actually simple my 2012 998 RT is! I will never complain again about changing my plugs! 😀

Thank you Shawn, very very informative video. I just bought a 2016 Spyder F3 Limited with 1800 Kms travelled. I do my own servicing so I now realise I should never reach that mileage that requires a spark plug change. Thanks again.

I’m driving my F3 to you Shawn when the spark plug change is due. That’s way above my comfort level. Thanks for sharing.

I knew it was a big job changing the plugs but I didn't realise it was that big, I definitely won't be changing my plugs until it starts misfiring LOL!! 😆 Everything's so compact in the Spyder, that's another good thing about the Ryker, much easier to access the engine!! 👍😁

Wow! Reminds me of some building Architects I've worked with, not a thought to future maintenance access.

Holy Crap! All that just to get to the spark plugs?! I thought only aircraft designers made simple jobs that complicated! Happy Hump Day! Have a great one! Peace and love.

Oh man you are earning your keep on that service...wow. I will not be attempting the plugs on one of those, that is a lot of work! Thanks for taking us along, it was very interesting....loved every minute👍

Good Morning Kelly and Shawn, Happy Wednesday. That’s a big job to change the plugs on a Spyder F3-T. You literally dismantled the Bike. I’m interested in what you find is causing the leak on the radiator. Batteries are expensive I just spent $200 on a new Battery for my van. Mind you I bought one that has 850 cold cranking amps. I need that in the winter. That was the mid to top priced battery, there was one for $400. I passed on that and less cold cranking amps. Have a great Hump Day.😊 It’s 4 am, think I’ll try to get some shut eye.

man i really love that color of that spyder.. I should go see what it would take to test drive one maybe this weekend if the weather holds out

I made my RS 998 even easier to replace the plugs by replacing the horridly huge air box with a pan cake air filter. There are a few gains in power and torque, also a bit of extra induction noise under heavy throttle percentages, but under normal conditions it tolerable.
@melodywilliams61973 жыл бұрын
So the 18000 mile on the 2018 F3 Limited does not involve all fluid changes. Only the oil and no spark plug change, right.
@albertosbrolla84245 жыл бұрын
That must cost a few bucks to change those spark plugs! Thanks for the show and tell on the can am. Looking forward to the after work rides, hoping to do a ride tomorrow if the weather cooperates for me, the Indian is ready to go!👍

I love your videos! Quick question regarding the F3. I noticed all of the dirt inside the engine compartment, do you have any recommendations on how to get it all cleaned up? Steam cleaning or pressure wash? Obviously covering up the airbox. Any recommendations are appreciated.

Hi Shawn! Awesome video as usual. I just bought a 2019 BMW F750GS and can't wait for spring. What are your thoughts on the consumer reports article on BMW being one of the least reliable motorcycles over the last 4 years. Being a mechanic that works on these vehicles if anyone had knowledgeable information on reliability that could shed some light on why people would report bad reliability it would be you.
@jjfromthebigland7814 жыл бұрын
I'd like to say I'm surprised that you have to do this to get to the spark plugs but I used to own a 2011 skidoo expedition and you had to all but take the entire front end apart just to get to them...

hey shawn, i notice that when i search for spark plug change for the f3 , everyone usually starts the video when the panels are off. i can remove the side panels, no problem and pretty much everything else. but when it comes to the "lateral console panel", the top/side panels shaped like a "Z", next to key console on each side, nobody shows how to remove these. i have the shop manual and they say "swing out to you and remove". i dont think so! they are clipped where you cant see. and they are tight. can you shed some light on this?
@boarder9895 жыл бұрын

You can tell the design engineer does not ever plan to work on one. That's a mess just to change the plugs. I worked in a body shop for about 10 years, I don't miss that either.
@ES44AC-25 жыл бұрын
Is the 28k that intensive on a 2015 RT ? That's crazy, looks like BRP would have made that easier.
@waynesiminski82685 жыл бұрын
OMG , they should make the design engineers perform maintenance work on their machines before they release them. Maybe then it would be a little less challenging to do anything to these nightmares. Ran into a lot of this on machinery when I was still working as a industrial milwright. Don’t miss it. A whole lot easier to do maintenance on my HD. Thanks

Shawn that's a lot of work to change spark plugs is the 2014 RT Spyder Limited just as hard to change the spark plugs ?

All my dreams of doing my own service on my 2016 F3 LTD just went up in "Smoak" . 28 K for me is 45,000 Km I better start saving my Loonies!!!! I agree with the last comment.... not a good design for such a simple task of replacing 3 plugs.

I rode an F3 today. Loved it. But the maint thing is a frightful thing. It looks, to do anything on these, a massive tear down is required. I ask about cost of an oil service. $154.. I could see $1000+ for the 28k. Yikes!
