Oh man this was actually a really great analysis. Well done. As a PTSD sufferer, I thought this film did an spectacular job at using memory flashes to show his trauma, rather than a scene of exposition. That’s kinda how it goes for me, in terms of seeing something that triggers you back to a traumatic emotional event/place, the constant and almost emotionless suicidal ideation. Imo this is one of the most unappreciated films of the last decade. (Great sound track too - I hadn’t heard the string arrangement of “we suck young blood.”)
