Does it not make more sense, by your own logic, to create jobs elsewhere that won't just get replaced by automation in a few years, and then find ways to retrain unemployed workers from the dying industry to work in these new, growing ones? Jobs in things like tech, social programs, et cetera...? Y'know, replace the effort to save the dying industries with efforts to help the displaced workers get into industries that will have more permanent jobs for them? If so, vote Democrat. Progressive Democrat. That's the kind of thing they're always trying to do, and it would be a lot easier without Republicans getting in the way of everything and undermining all discourse on these issues and thus getting in the way of actual change and improvement in regards to such problems as unemployment and the like. Do be wary of corporate Democrats, though. They're not as bad as most Republicans, but they sure ain't perfect, to say the very least.
