Try to immerse yourself in that one story game & enjoy it. Forget about the newest released games. In 2 years, you'd get that $80 game for $15 and it would be the complete edition with all the DLCs.

The real backlog is spending the first year or 2 stressing over it, trial and error until it fits into your life like a glove one day. I learned to love games more than i ever did thanks to that. Having a completionist arc also helped.

The thing I've learned to love is smaller games ill download them playbill I get bored and months later I'll see the icon and get in their and finish it. My problem is I keep buying all the damn bundles so my number never stays down

I adore watching videos of people attempting to tackle their backlog of games. It is very hopeful. I don't think it is impossible to get through your backlog, but I believe it has become a lot harder to curate a backlog you want to work though. With sales and fanbases promoting more then 100+ games at a time, it easily becomes hard to figure out what you want to play. I know I own games and series I might not have touched if it was not because of people online and I know there are a lot more on my wishlist. And since the talk is focused on platinum, 100% or beating games, it feels like a game is not done before we have done one of the three. It really has become another chore. I am currently finishing up my first playthrough of persona 5 royal, which has been fun, and a lot of work. It is such a long game! I have been deleting a lot of my backlog, so it is doable to deal with, but it is still about a year worth of work to get through it all and a lot of the reason behind that, is that I brought the full series before even trying the first game. It is no longer me picking up kingdom heart for ps2, then playing the game, before deciding to buy the next one. It is me buying all three bayonetta games and the first three devil may cry, without really looking into anything about them. So instead of just having the first bayonetta on the backlog, there are now six games. Fire emblem is another example of this madness. I have no interest in tactical games, but because of fans I am afraid of missing out on a "great game series". It only gets worse with the retro marked being priced so high, it feels like you have no time to decided if you want a game, because if you wait a bit to long, you will have to pay a fine for not being quicker. It is kind of mad XD

Thing is, for me, I have collected a ton of games that I wish to complete, but always end up playing them all at the same time. It's actually pretty refreshing playing from one game to another, but this makes me finish games way too long, but it is fun for me, and it's going to be subjective for everyone. Good luck demolishing your backlogs. Just remember to have fun!
@guerillatactix38344 ай бұрын
Nah, I'm getting through my backlog. I have a few game series which are day one buys, everything else has to be $20 or less for me. If the series of games which are day one buy are not announced, I have $200 to spend on day one games. Thus I am buying maybe 6 games a year. Granted this doesn't account for the utter trash that EGS gives me every month, which I don't count as part of the backlog unless its the holiday mystery bangers they drop. This allows me to focus on games in my backlog and play at my own pace. The issue is mainly burn out. Switching up the genre doesn't help. I go through weeks per month where I simply don't want to game.

@dimitristsipis48412 ай бұрын
I wish I only had 100 games in my backlog....... But then the collector in me cries and I add more games to it. Well its a matter of perspective. As long as you see it as a backlog, you see the problem as something mandatory and this takes away most of the fun playing. I myself view my backlog as a game collection/library. This means at any time, I can instantly pick any game I am in the mood for, while all the others remain on display as a testament of my love to the medium.

This is very relatable for me, especially 2023. However, this is not the same for my cousin. For some reason, his parents don't let him play another game until he finishes the current one. Now, he has this habit of finishing games one by one. Even if he grabs a couple of games on sale, he wouldn't touch them. I actually thought it was pointless and boring and back then, I didn't use to buy many games. But in 2023, I started to buy more games and I realised the pain of backlogging.

There are 702 Games in my Backlog, and I'm glad I have bought them all because now I don't have to worry about running out of Games to play. The only thing that is bothering me about it, is the fact that, because I will never finish it, I might miss out on playing a Game I would love. I think we just have to accept, that we will miss out on some Games no matter what we do, and we should just enjoy the Games we are playing right now without thinking about what we could have played instead or if it is worth our time, because if you enjoy a Game, then it is worth your time, even if there is some Game out there you might like more.

2:45 simple. The game is just really fun and engaging and the experience is better if you ignore how long the game is and just enjoy playing it and take your time with it. Also I'd argue that you don't have to finish every game in your backlog you just have to play them for long enough to see if you like them or not

Focus on 1 or 2 games at a time and dont buy anything else until you've actually finish them. Regardless if their is a sale going on and just maybe you might be able to finish the backlog. Focus is key, but most importantly just have fun and be in the moment. These are video games afterall, not a second or third job.

Every time I see a video about backlogs and I see people complaining that they got only 100 games not played. Meanwhile I look at the thousands of titles I own and chuckle to myself, then cry internally. (currently 1607 games in the backlog (only on steam, too lazy to count all the other games for consoles I own). For me, I don't actually plan or even think it will be possible to finish that backlog, so I categorized all my games based on how much I want to play them, then try to focus on the ones at the top, then working my way down, making it more manageable (still on the highest category but I'm having fun). Try to mix things up by changing what console I'm using and have a roulette wheel that helps pick games for me.
