Thanks for the insights in this video. I think perspective / scout mode is key for live fishing in shallow water but it's not as intuitive to use as forward. Any videos on how to be more successful in this mode is key to this transition of using live in shallow water that you mentioned.

I just got back from Lake Chickamauga which I had never fished before. Using Livescope and traditional fishing techniques our experience resulted in our traditional techniques producing larger fish and our Livescope techniques producing more fish. I love that you are using data and not inserting opinion into your presentations. Like you stated, the FFS data is very limited in scope until you can using an equal time scale for both, it's hard to really understand the impact of FFS. Hopefully you we will still be seeing these videos in 2039. I had the LiveVu system back in 2108/2109, so not sure if the Pros had began using the technology then.

Interesting analysis. And yes, it is subject to change. Foe example, we are hearing evidence that bass are starting to get spooked when the FFS beam is too close. I am hoping that most big bass start to get negative when they feel the sonar beam hit them from long distances.

Great information! So interesting to see how the fishing has changed! It also would be very interesting to see studies how especially low density fish are being effected by this technology. Fish such as Muskie, Sturgeon etc. Bass are just a small part of the equation. Do you know if any DNR’s or Universities are doing studies?

Excellent video, Jonny. Solid data, well presented. Glad you started using the term ' Forward-Facing Sonar' near the end, like Matt uses in his discussions on this topic. I realize 'Kleenex' and 'Coke' have become the frequently used terms for facial tissue and soda or soft drink. Livescope seems to be the same, but as technology evolves, FFS will probably include other technologies we may not even think about now.

Jonny, one statement you made is dead on. We cannot predict the future. Bass fishing has always been a progression on learning and using the latest advancements in equipment and technology. We all must use it or get left behind. Those wanting to ban the FFS are asking for freedoms to be taken away. Each thing given up will only lead to more being taken away

Nice data and comparison. Still - what % of tournaments are won with pre-scope methods? Pretty sure it's 0%. It's a new era for sure. It is what it is. I was on the pre-scope end for 40 years. I recently upgraded antique electronics & TM for a ghost / Helm & Bow HDS Live / AT1. Love it. New world. Tremendous tech and easy to use. I'll still never stop fishing banks and long points like the ol days, but I look forward to getting more proficient with FFS this season !

So what’s it really matter as long as the fish die off isn’t going up in the livescope era? More fish are now caught offshore. Are fish caught offshore more likely to die after release? If not then it comes down to some people just don’t like to watch pros using livescope. And that’s their prerogative. The real question is livescope resulting in more fish being kept to the point it hurts the fishery.

LiveScope is just another tool as are side and down imaging and apps like DeepDive. You have to be good at the fundamentals first or none of that stuff is gonna help much. Coming from a weekend angler perspective, I have found the biggest challenge is figuring out where the bass have gone from week to week. Area of lake or river to target, water temps, clarity, lake levels, time of year, time of day, thermocline, fishing pressure oh my.

I do not like FLS. You might as well go to the circus and do magnetic fishing. I do use a FF. It puts me in an area where fish are present in deep areas, but not in the shallows. There should be a large contest with no electronics, for the best natural fisherman.

This is a ridiculous comparison. First spotlighting stuns deer and makes them stay still allowing you to shoot them. Second deer are naturally more active and feel safer at night and will be less alert, therefore easier to kill. Nothing near the same. I suggest you go cry with your Amish friends and fish with a cane pole or at least make a good analogy and stop copying everything your cult leader randy says.

Great video! Love the stats. I always say FFS. I believe that alot of spring bass fishing is bed fishing. To me that's the same as using FFS. Thats ok though. Plus MLF puts their fish right back in the water and B.A.S.S. puts their fish back after the weigh in. To me it's not hurting the Fisheries. The banks of lakes have been beaten so bad over the years, I believe offshore fishing allows the fish to actually use the shallows to repopulate them without so much pressure. To me it's going to heal the lakes !

Your baseline is off I respect your input and study , but their are way to many factors to see results for post or pre live scope . Every body of water is different and guys that normally fish shallow vs guys that fish deep these guys Have always cought them but the deep water guys are targeting fish that were never targeted. The Bass haven't changed their patterns , the Anglers have changed the approach or the way they fish for them. They have always related to brush piles and shell beds . With LS it's just made it easier to see how they react to your presentation.

Great job. Live scoping is getting a unfair reputation by the ones who refuse to find the facts. Those fish offshore have always been there. Know one want to take the time to really learn how to catch them and wanted to take the easy way out to catch them shallow and the industry flooded us with only shallow water techniques. Long lining was introduced and It hurt the deep water fish only because people never took the time to learn how to care for those fish and it was banned in tournament fishing. We have come leaps and bounds sense that era. 2D was used to introduce the Damiki style of fishing no one complained about that technique. Live scope is only a tool that will open up so many things to come. For those that refuse to educate themselves and find the true facts. Until you teach the fish to just jump into your boat it’s probably a good time for you to find a new hobby. With so many anglers on the water compared to the so called good old days of fishing time will tell and if every state would learn from Texas on how to truly manage our fisheries then maybe truth to all of this will be told.

Nope, still appears to me to be the most unethical fishing tool I've ever seen. It's about DNR's have outlawed Wifi trail cams, spotlights and drones for hunting because it's unfair chase. So now with FFS we can find snd observe fish in real time 100's of feet away able to follow their movements and watching their reaction to presentations until they get caught. I'm not seeing much difference from the unfair hunting methods. All I see are anglers getting excited that they can have this unfair advantage legally. 2D sonar isn't live. Underwater cameras can't see more than a few feet. Totally opposed to FFS and confident enough to not need it.
