He's filled with gelled corn syrup, which is actually different from traditional corn syrup. Corn syrup is derived from cornstarch, which is a carbohydrate that's made up of chained molecules of glucose. When heated with water, some of the bonds between the glucose molecules break, causing the starch to undergo "gelatinization" and form a gel-like substance. In starch gelatinization the dissolution of the starch granule into water is actually irreversible as far as we know, which is an interesting thing. Although scientists figured out how to actually uncook an egg white a handful of years ago, so who knows?
