Try and wake up 30 minutes before fajr and offer tahajjud prayer. You will be well within the last third of the night & you can pray fajr straight after.

One of the Condition that This must regard as "Late Night Prayer" and recommended to offer during the " Last Hour" so The PERFECT Timing at least 2 hours before Fajr .....not after ishak or FEW Minutes (30) before Fajr....and thts is the meaning of Qiyam Ul Layl as Allah has described that This Special Category of Righteous Believers in Surah Adh-Dhariyat 51:17 They used to sleep but little of the night,...

30mins before fajr is actually the voluntary 2 rakaat before fajr where in Hadith Mentioned : it's far more better than the entire universe contains....so.this is not counted as tahajjud ...Let's be safe , it must be at least 2-3hours before fajr.

@@fefe8230 it is not compulsory to sleep and then wake up for tahajjud. Also, the type of prayer you do is dependent on your niyyah (intention) as this prayer is outside of the compulsory prayer times and in itself is not a compulsory prayer.

You have to calculate between Maghreb and fajr of the next day. Let's say their are 9 hours between. Then the last third of the night will start 3 hours before fajr
