This is the return of the road licence tax that was done away with in 2006. But the tax was absorbed in the fuel levy. Are we not being double taxed for the same purpose?

This is very sad! Even in the developed world,heavy taxation does not add up to economic development. Ruto has constantly compared other countries to kenya's taxation index-which is so wrong. There can always be other factors that help other countries thrive economically but might not be equally be applicable to Kenya. This madness has to stop. Countrywide demonstration is the way to go.

We have argued here on affording a car goes beyond paying for it. We need check the valuation procedures since its not so clear from the proposed law. But Ruto should also add circulation tax, introduce annual inspection tax... ongeza kabisa Ruto... People need the pinches so that we can also defend our rights. Even Third Cover Insurance will attract the tax, there is no distinction of the covers as proposed. Public participation or not just pass it as it is.
