I too became a nurse many years ago and am now retired. I'm struck when you start talking about work situations where things are brushed under a rug. I was always very sensitive to wrongdoing, ethical issues, safety etc. in the workplace and was sometimes criticised for being too picky or righteous or something like goody two shoes. My dedication, loyalties, and concerns were with the patients I served....the vulnerable. Although timid in some areas of my own personal life, I always found the strength and courage to stand up and fight for the best interest of patients.
