Thank you to everyone who took the time to watch this video, I hope it was entertaining or beneficial to watch. We put a lot into this video, sharing our thoughts, and the most important thing from this video is that, it's absolutely crucial to learn from your losses and enjoy your wins. We are so lucky to win another team championship, and we are fortunate to have a low individual to learn from. Best of luck to everyone in their coming track seasons, have fun, work hard and RUN FAST!

@@domenics2285 i meant poor performance in comparison to both their previous times and expectiations. In no means do i think that their times were bad or that it was their fault. Sometimes people just have off days, I personally believe that the reason that they did not perform up to their extremely high expectations was due to their pacing/overall racing strategy, trying to string out the race so early.

Leo and Lex, you both set a HUGE example for every runner out there on how to handle coming up short on your race goal. You gave everything you had, you were supportive of the other runners on your team, and you were gracious. You are both literally old enough to be my grandchildren, yet you taught this 50-year-old runner who's hoping to run a sub-3 hour marathon A LOT through your performance on the day at nationals and how you both handled it. I'm looking forward to seeing how this result will motivate you both to absolutely crush it during track season and in your years at Stanford.

I was 4th in state as a junior and was favored to win the next year, but broke my big toe in May the next year and could not train at all during the Summer. I ended up 6th as a Senior, and it broke my heart. Not sure I could have made a video after. You and your brother have success in your future. Thank you! BTW, I thought I was fast at 16:08. lol wow! Leo reminded me of Steve Prefontaine in the 5000 meter finals at the 1972 Olympics. Pre pushed the pace at the end and fell to fourth at the end and was spent. He then won his third NCAA cross country title in 1973 the hard way, overtaking Nick Rose at the end. The Young brothers put everything into that race. Aaron, Braden, and Cantu really came through. We are going to see winners this spring at Newbury Park,.

People have a tendency to focus on times. As an older runner (61), I focus on effort. In my prime, I was never close to your times, but from an effort viewpoint, all competitive runners can relate to an effort where you leave everything on the field. I'm not worried about your times as I know you will get faster as you get older. Watching the race live, I saw that you guys left everything on that field that day. The fact that you could vary your pace and place strategy in a race where everyone there is fast is a credit to your ability and mindset. Now let's talk about mindset for a minute... You guys are young and have no idea where your limits are. That's the awesome benefit of youth in not knowing your limitations. When you see older runners, they have all run up against their best limits at various distances and hence as they got older you see them going up in distance because our aerobic capacity isn't as great compared to when we were younger. But it's that mindset that is key... In my youth, I had my fastest half-marathon time on an extremely hilly course and my fastest time was on that first race. The next 6 times I ran that race were never as fast as that first race. You see my mindset knew what was coming and tried to protect me by backing off on some of the more difficult parts. That same mindset can follow you through life and you must overcome those limitations. For me, the path to overcoming those limitations was to take up a new sport where I never knew my limitations other than age (Triathlons). L&L, this race is not your limit...nor does it define you as runners.. Keep a positive mindset and enjoy your lives wherever that may take you. Regardless of future results, I will always root for the young, because it is a joy to watch you all race! Best wishes for the future and may 2023 bring the both of you the greatest joy!

It's the yin and yang of life, in order to know winning (really winning) you must know what it is like to lose, life is suffering so find your purpose(s). What do we do with those dark days? Learn to accept them and learn from them because those days come right after the morning light, may your God bless all who read - good luck.

You never know how hard you can go unless you push the pace. Pushing the pace is a balance, with the adrenaline of the championship race, and the expectation coming in from last year, it is not completely out of no where that they might push it a bit too hard on the day. Pushing the pace is exactly what the sport is about, and L & L really exemplify this.

So happy for the team and Aaron!!! Was hoping for a great Lex and Leo 1-2, but you won some and you lose some. Learn from it and move on. Great season Newbury Park!!!

I love your vids and keep up the great work! Always fun entertainment! Edit: just wondering, not sure if you'll read this but can you make a video going over what injuries you both have faced over your high school xc and tf career and how it affected you guys? Thanks!
