Really enjoying watching your travels, manakitanga with locals and living a little vicariously. Heading to Rarotonga in July for a couple of weeks to hangout with my sister and brother in law who have moved their permanently and loving it. "when there is fish, there are cats" your statement makes no sense FYK: Florida in the Fishing Capital of the World and you won't find a single cat wondering outside let alone dogs and other creatures. just like any other 1st world country in this poor planet you keep missing with. but no wonders that in 3rd world you can find cats everywhere, just like you find cows and rats in India blocking out streets and snatching food from people.... this is called defying the fundamentals of nature and the natural equilibrium. In morocco, I would rather call it an unwonted poor creature invasion. so stop fooling yourself

Are the numbers of cats more than Istanbul ? A google search reveals that the cat is considered a sacred animal in Islam due to its cleanliness and therefore encouraged to enter homes and religious places. Its pretty fascinating to understand these cultural tips. Enjoy and Stay safe Steiners
