I have the same box. I got it as a kid for Christmas along with a ratchet set and some wrenches. I still have the box but the tray is long gone, its been my hole saw box for about 35 years or so now. I think the tray got pounded to bits back when I used to carry it in the trunk of my car. The tray hinges wore through and the tray fell in and got pounded to death. I also had one in blue hammer tone too, that one is still like new but it never did any hard duty, it was just used to keep some hobby items in back then, today its full of router bits under my router table.

The sand blasted look is nice. I used to enjoy running the sand blaster when I worked at a mill. Very meditative and satisfying work.

I’m a big fan of the hammered finish paints too. My favorite color is called oil rubbed bronze. Great old tool color 👍🏼 looks great

Very nice. Good choice on color scheme as well. The only better option would have been powder coat. But with the added clear coat, it should last. Thumbs Up!

Way back when I was a kid I got a box just like that, and its the color you painted it, not the color yours was before. Mine has a slightly older style latch and it had a single folding plastic tray inside that's over the years gotten eaten by rubber worms. I got mine as a birthday gift in the late 60's/early 70's. No later than 1973. I still use mine, but no longer as a tackle box, it hold router bits these days and I use a slightly newer, larger tackle box for fishing. (I also still have the Zebco 33 rod/reel combo that came with it, and a few of the original lures that came with the combo back then. I caught lots of bluegills and sunfish with that thing back then.

Sure the hell can! Sand blast it with your suped up hazard fraught sand blaster and spray paint it.

Pretty sure they were 1/8th in girth, not sure how long. I just grabbed what I had on hand.

lol, after all these years and NO ONE has come up with a way to improve the "Mexican chrome" spray paint? Not a criticism on the restoration at all, I just can't believe that with all the advancements in paint that that old dull gray is still the best we can do in a rattle can.
