I've smelled that smell you mentioned while walking the strip. To me it resembled a sewer smell. I think the sewer system vents gasses through the storm drains. Some places around Vegas are stomach churning.

We just got back from a stay at Monte Carlo, and I must say that the newly renovated rooms are horrible. They look like something you would find at a budget motel or motor inn. Mattresses are terribly uncomfortable, so much so that I could not sleep. The rooms are hot, and bearing in mind that our stay there was in January so during the coolest time of year in Vegas, even on the lowest temperature setting, the room would not cool off. The rooms are already showing wear and tear. The interior designer really should be fired. Also, the area around the tram loading station still smells awful, as you said in the video. It smelled like sewage. We stayed at Monte Carlo before renovations began, and the rooms and property as a whole was much better before.

I have to agree with everything you said. We stayed in October and they gave us a new model room we both looked at it and said we wanted their old room lol. I loved the whole thing about MC before including the pub.

Jules, most decent hotels are going to have dual pane windows for their rooms. That alone will cut the noise dramatically.

They have been renovating this hotel for over 2 yrs!! I still think it's a waste of time and money 😎

They've spent a lot of money to make the hotel WORSE than it was. The "park" theme is ugly.

They are ruining the pool area though! The Monte Carlo had a great pool scene with the lazy river/wave pool etc. The main pool was small, but still not a bad layout. Now it will become just another day club, hipster pool scene, catering to another demographic. So annoying newer isn't always better.

No matter how they try to dress it up (It's still a dump). Customer base is low class people. Staff is rude and think they all own the place. That pool area is small.
