The fountains of the deep include the magma within the planet. The Earth had one supercontinent and the seas were all in one place (Genesis 1:9-10). We can see by a map of the globe that the continents used to fit together. There is still a great scar going down the length of the Atlantic Ocean where the continents separated, as the supercontinent was broken up.

If there was life on Earth before Adam, then they all died because God is cruel and evil, and not part of a divine judgment. My God isn't cruel and evil. Adam brought sin into the world, which caused God to bring death into the world as punishment. Before Adam sinned there was no death. Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
