Love that bike , especially the seat! Yellows in the air! Ran into an ol timer in BC in September. He was checking out my Vic and asked if had time to come over to his shop. Inside was his Yellow all original 1953 Indian with a brown springer seat. 8000 original mi. He bought it brand new and it was in pristine running condition. Along with about 20 other treasures he had in there. Cool Harley brother! Ride well and ride on!

Hi Adam: My first Harley was a 1982 Shovelhead. I had a very unfortunate event happen to me. I bought the bike new. The air cleaner unit has two nuts and flat washers inside the cover holding the backing plate, which mounts the heads. The front nut and washer are inside the foam element by design and they are not secured. You'll need to make sure that nut is safety wired or carter keyed. If the nut comes loose, the nut or the washer may very well get sucked down the carburetor and destroy the motor. This was a bad design feature on all those shovelhead motors with this style of Air Cleaner Unit. I know about this from 1st hand experience. It happened to me and it destroyed my motor.
