That little guy was a jumping spider. They are very friendly, and actually are often kept as pets. He just felt comfortable with you, he wasn't trying to scare or hurt you!!

Yep it's actually called a Bold Jumping Spider and likely a female as large as it is. Bold Jumping Spider (Phidippus audax)

We call them jumping spiders. They are friendly. They don't make webs. They attack insects. They are safe for your garden and home. They're smart too and have good memory of you. Often kept as pets. If you have the right energy around you they may jump on you if they feel safe. I'm not a fan of spiders but these are our best friends.

I have aussies and a Great Pyrenees. My aussies saved me from an attack by our 350 lb dorper ram. It chased me and I got in the side by side it was ramming into the front and sides trying to get me. The dogs chased it around till it wore out and we could get it back in the pen. They almost had it in the pen themselves. They are amazing dogs. A great dog on the farm is a must. ❤

Holly is so beautiful. When I was little, we went fishing. And someone had dumped a dog just like Holly in the woods. As ended up,no fish but we took the dog home. He was the best dog.😊

I had a customer a Long time ago that grew some plants in the shade of their garage in our city. One day she told me to pull the vines for the winter clean up!!! Back in the deep shade of Gigantic leaves was about a 10 lb Watermelon that never had direct sunlight on it. Amazing and tasty. Ya'all have a blessed week ahead.

Your bug is a spider. Jumping spider. We call those fly spiders because they always sat on the fence post in the cow lot just waiting for a feast. Ive never had on bite. I had to stay with my Grandma at night and i worked in the day. Saw one in my house. I left it alone. Every work day i ate lunch at my house. The spider would drop down on the back of my chair everytime I ate lunch. I named it Harry. Lol 🤣 I later found out it was Harriet. Lol 🤣 I stayed with my Grandma for 5 1/2 years. So the spider helped keep bugs out of my house while i was gone. And was a great listener at lunch time. Lol 🤣 I recently saw on Random Okie Farms they went to a exotic pets sale. And these spiders were being sold as pets. Lol 🤣 They do have cool looking eyes.

Vickie here. I enjoyed the video. My Mom grew a lot of tomatoes every year. So if one did not look good, bug ate on it or whatever, she threw it over the fence into the pasture. One year she had volunteer tomato plants in the pasture, just over the fence. She said they tasted better than the ones she planted! Glad Holly found you a watermelon. You and the chickens and pigs sure enjoyed it. Hope the heat lets up for you. Here in southern Missouri it has cooled off today. Hope the worst of the heat is over. We have had 90s for a week I think. Glad you got a good deal on the side by side. It will help you more being bigger. Have a good afternoon.

I live in Tucson Az and when I’m discussing the heat I always talk about the UV. To me that’s the one to watch. We get to 12 sometimes, and that’s a 1-11 scale. So I personally won’t go out when it’s 7 and above. Did you know that dogs can see blue, every other color is shades of yellow. So Holly’s baby is perfect with that blue. Wow, is that sun help ever beautiful I wanted to plant some but I never got around to it so maybe next season. Another way to tell if your water melons are ripe you turn them over and done that bleached out yellow part on the bottom of bugs are starting to Edgen to the rind that is a good sign they are ripe I was taught to sit out on the counter for 24 hours and then put it in the fridge for 24 hours before cutting it and it would be sweet and not as pissy
