no need to apologize, it's what we're here for, not boring :D Also that electro magnet you pulled apart would've looked amazing as a part of a spaceship engine

I LOVE collecting Greeblies... I have a knack of looking at some random piece of plastic and seeing the potential... My missus says I'm a hoarder... Haha! Please can you do a workshop tour / storage reveal? Talk about how you store and categorise everything? Love your videos!

I like these breakdown/take apart vid's. I've got access via my job to dozens and dozens of small/medium electronics that otherwise would go to the dump, so I'm set for parts!

I’ve got a dozen of these I’m gonna rip apart. I made a microscope with one. If you build a stand to put your phone on it will help. I looked at a flea under one and it’s pretty incredible.

If you can get your hands on old VHS machines, will blow you mind. Regarding the cube, it would make an awesome power core if you get it to spin with a back light shinning behind it

Glues used to secure fasteners and lenses/optical elements can be dissolved with Acetone/Nail polish remover. If you ever disassemble camera lenses you'll find the acetone to be useful. It's very easy to damage those very tiny delicate screw heads.

hmm, that's intersting! Thanks for letting me know ;D

Great video. Hard drives also have some nice parts. The "swing arm" or whatever it's called makes great braces for droid legs, and there's a tiny piece of plastic that looks like a rack with 3 or 4 missiles on it that is the prefect roof mounted missile rack for a gaslands build.
@MartinDolan2 жыл бұрын
Awesome tutorial for people. I've been doing that for years, I also use some of those parts to make interesting jewellery, earrings etc.. I'll also add that about 10-20% of the DVD drives I find in people's hard rubbish still have CD's and DVD's in them 😂

Awesome video, and it would be great for this to be a new series for your channel. As I usually say, it's just one more step in the process. Oh, and you should definitely make a DIY microscope. Even if it doesn't pan out, it'd be a blast to watch come together. Take care, and have a great week.

See this is damn close to perfect, this is what we were all talking about... Only thing more which you dont ever have to do, but to even add more pizazz is to tell us what you possibly would make with each of the pieces or ideas of almsot every piece. LOL yeah right... that is too many. But that SQUARE prism, I have taken apart of alot of DVD readers and writers, but I have never seen a square one, flat ones year triangle yeah...never a square, that is a piece that can be used in 28mm scale piece lighted up for an object like a tesseract type of thing. Man... Also those Magnets out of the lens, those are really good magnets, I have been finding 1/3 of those size ones lately in my teardowns, tiny little size of erasers sometimes smaller. Free magnets for closures and attachments for arms quick change parts. and they hold so good. That white plastic good white filter for leds as well...I get metal on mine lately never white opaque plastic anymore. You are lucky. Keep it up this is what I think we all wanted and appreciate please keep it up! ***BIG HUGS***
@CutTransformGlue2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! The idea of talking about what to do with each piece is something that definitely crossed my mind.. think I'll try that! The square prisms is kinda rare I must say, keep trying and you'll eventually find them :D thanks again and happy new year buddy, big hugs!
@larissamonroe210922 жыл бұрын
@@CutTransformGlue I sure hope so, triangle and like flat glass is what i get never a square i hope one day i will come across one. And same to you as well. :) Be safe, and no cutting of fingers or jabbing your hand with screwdrivers!

Super cool video! Love the breakdown, more please. Which cutting disc do you use on your Dremel? Here's a mildly interesting fact: in south Africa where I grew up, we used to refer to 3.5" floppies as "stiffies", since you know, they were not floppy but stiff :D
@CutTransformGlue2 жыл бұрын
that's funny, stiffies lol! I use a simple metal toothed disc I bought on ali express years ago, nothing to fancy! (not the best also, but does the job)
@LaserGadgets2 жыл бұрын
Can you imagine a future without greeblies? .__. most devices only hold a circuit board and no mechanics.

We have the small advantage of cheap and ready 3d printers to balance it out but that's it's whole own bucket of worms. A nice balance between the two is best
