Well this review was a couple years back but the non-electric one in the tenor model is 139.99 in the United States and they're all for sale on Amazon now soprano concert and tenor plus these type of ukuleles as you pointed out but the bottom line is you don't have to worry about them getting hot or getting cold and from what I understand they pretty well stay in tune so that would be a big plus not have to taking a wooden instrument out in various weather conditions and I enjoyed your playing at the end of the video take care hope you're just finding you well couple years later Dan Bohland Onalaska Wisconsin USA

Just bought one yesterday 2023/07/15 and in studio plug in with acoustic effects it is worth it to me anyway , because the wooden ones are laminated to this price range

I have the concert but want to trade up to the tenor with the acoustic plus. They are lovely instruments.

Hi Pam yep they are! I think they have a particular function - ideal to play in specific circumstances. I bought mine to take on flights. I wouldn’t choose it over a good wooden uke for general use though!!

@@davethorpe1945 I use mine for camping plus I live in the desert so the Nova is ideal for that climate. Plus I find when songwriting it's sound fits some songs so well. Sometimes it reminds me of a music box sound and on one song, it almost has a banjo twang without being the annoying banjolele full on sound. But you are right, not a replacement for wood. Just a fun enhancement.

Hi Tina - as I hope was clear my view on this uke is that it is great for certain circumstances where you want a very portable, durable uke. In terms of sound quality you shouldn’t compare it to a good sodden uke. It is very different. If you buy from Amazon though it is fairly straightforward to return it if you don’t like it. What is it that concerns you about the Carbon Fibre?

Hi Vivian - not quite sure what you mean by 23 and 26 ukulele? Ukes would usually be defined in terms of scale length (but to bridge) or more conventionally by the description soprano/concert/tenor/baritone Each have their own characteristics and style and each player has different requirements. Hi Frankie - The Nova Y’s are a great option where portability durability and weatherproofing are issues. In general I would always opt for a good solid wood uke if those three factors are not important considerations.

On wednesday I took delivery of this model uke. Took it out, looked at it, tuned it, played it for about 30 min - put it back in the box and it was back in Amazon's hands within 24 hours. Intonation was terrible, action was too high, tuning machines are cheap knock-offs of Grovers and slipped, sounds like a cheap plastic instrument. In my opinion it isn't a good instrument. The Outdoor Ukulele tenor is a much better instrument, however, it does cost more $$$.

It’s a shame you’ve had this experience. One of the good things about buying from Amazon is that you can return it but on the other side they have no quality control over instruments they send out. You may have got a duff one, or they may just not give you what you want from a uke. Either way it’s a shame. For me they serve a very specific purpose - I only use them in places where I would not take my other more valuable ukes. I am happy enough with what they are in those environments but in no way are they a substitute for my aNueNues or my Kamaka. I hope I made that clear in my review. It’s good that you have commented on your experience though. Genuinely thank you. 👍
