Having been subjected to this several times now, I think this was a very good video, covering all aspects, and should help to reassure anyone due to have one. These things are never “exciting” or whatever the word is, but it is soon over with. Mine saved my life. I lost a lot of blood suddenly, and my dr sent me straight away for this procedure, and they found what turned out to be early stage cancerous Polyps. . I go every three years for check ups now. But the discomfort lasting perhaps 30mins is nothing when it saves your life. So please, anyone who watched this and felt they couldn’t go through with one...Please go! It’s not even as bad as going to the dentist ! And is a life saver Thankyou to the folks who made such an interesting and powerful video. We do need more like this about other health issues please! 😊👍

Just had this today. It's true that the prep is the worst part of the procedure. The prep made me want to throw up and gave me stomach pains. Not to mention the burning and irritation on my butthole. But it's a minor inconvenience for a potentially life-saving procedure. I got sedated and fell asleep throughout the procedure, and only woke up in the recovery room about an hour later. I felt no pain, only dizziness and some nausea a few hours after. Get a colonoscopy guys before it's too late!

I had this procedure done and it almost killed me. My doctor damaged my spleen while retracting the camera. I bleed internally for hours, after 8 units of blood they decided to take me in for a exploration operation , that’s when they found the damage they did. I was very weak from being low on blood and my heart working so hard for so long I had a heart attack on the table and my kidneys shut down. After they removed my spleen to stop the bleeding and 7 weeks in the hospital trying to get my strength back they sent me home, after 3 months of home care I am about 50 percent of what I used to be. Thank you Kaiser. This will be my last colonoscopy, I am not afraid of cancer anymore.

I recently had a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy procedure carried out. I decided to have one just to be on the safe side following several longstanding issues. I was put to sleep for the procedures so don't remember anything, other than the prep that is required two to three days prior to admission. Please do not hesitate getting this done if you have any concerns. Even if your results are clear. It's best to be on the safe side and the procedure is carried out with utmost professionalism.

Just had ine yesterday. The worst part is the prep. It is so important to do the prep correctly. As you take the prep luquid , you can see the bowel movements getting very watery, then clear, then a bright yellow. The procedure itself was A breeze.
@jondstewart4 жыл бұрын
Anybody watching this scared to have this done, hear me on this: it’s not bad at all! The prep the day before is a pain because all you can have is clear liquids and the prep I had included a large bottle of lemon lime Gatorade filled with an entire bottle of Miralax powder. Depending on your diet, more than likely you’ll have some diarrhea the first 2-3 times, then just yellow liquid afterwards. But for the procedure itself, do not fear! I slipped on my gown, technician inserted an IV of saline, the anesthesiologist asked me a few questions, went into the procedure room, asked to turn to my side, the anesthesiologist inserted something in the IV drip, a minute later I joked “hey I feel a little sleepy”, then some 30 minutes later I woke up sleepy, but totally alert, no pain in my butt, and told all was well and released gouging on two slices of Costco pizza.

I was able to ask questions during and the staff and doc were very respectful and engaging. Recovery was easy.

No pain, stayed awake (with conscious sedation) the whole time and actually comment on doctor's procedures from info learned on this video, I told him exactly where he was in my colon....he said i must've done my homework... Do the prep to the letter and all will go well. Learn to enjoy the prep solution, the prep is your friend... HC Clark-ENC U.S. Navy Retired CPO (1973-1993) Baltimore, Md.

Had this procedure carried out recently & I also had a camera down my throat to check for ulcer's. TBH, I was nervous & worried beforehand. But I cannot stress enough it's a doddle & I never felt a thing. Only a small bit of pressure in my tummy & that's because of the air that's pumped into your colon. Even if they find polyps they are quite tiny & may look big on screen to you, but remember there magnified & their no feeling if their removed by the Doctor. So guys there's no need to worry, just relax yourself & totally put yourself at ease while it being done. When it's all over you'll be served with refreshments & given time to settle before going home. Best of luck to you all guys!

I had my colonoscopy done but my doctor didn't gave me any sedative. It took him approx 45 min. I was having grade 3 thrombosed internal haemorrhoids and that is reason i felt so much rectal pain during the procedure otherwise it's not so painful, you just feel bloating and urge to go to toilet because of the air. But it is totally safe and is considered the gold standard.

I experienced terrible cramping for weeks due to inflammation of the colon, which was partially blocked. Since an ultrasound didn't reveal any problems, I checked in at the emergency at the Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, Canada. I told them my symptoms and that I needed to be flashed out. Only on the 5th day, after threatening to check out and being fed for 4 days, which consequently caused a complete blockage and a big belly, did I get flushed out. I never saw or heard about the result. Worse, on the 6th day, I woke up in ICU with my colon removed without being informed about it prior. The surgeon told me afterward that the inflammation was caused by my leukemia. I was on a bag for 9 very uncomfortable month as all of them kept leaking, burning my skin. Although I got reconnected, my life has been ruined as now I can't be away from a toilet, not more than 4 hours. Sometimes, after eating, I have to interrupt washing dishes to make it safely to the toilet. Also, traveling is now out of the question. I still don't know why I didn't get flushed out the day I checked in and got treated with antibiotics to cure the inflammation instead. Could it be they make more money by operating? To this day, I still don't have any answers.

I have gotten 5 done so far and it's not scary at all. I'm 14 years old and I have sever chrohns disease. Well rn I'm back in the hospital (3 weeks) and they don't know if I have chrohns or colitis. But I had chrohns for a year and 8 months. It's been tough but this procedure is nothing I promise. The doctors are nice and everyone is there to calm you down and make you feel less scared. I get a slushee every time after I wake up . Ok I'm not going to lie, the preparation sucks. You can't eat for two days and you drink a whole bunch bowl in 3 hours. I also drink it with Gatorade (it's what they suggest) and now I hate Gatorade but the procedure it's self does not hurt and I never feel any cramps or pain after the procedure.

AND the nurse told her she 'Just had indigestion!!😡!!' On the 5th day, or at 2am she rang my sister to drive her to the hospital, as she knew she was too sick too drive to the hospital herself!! AND the Local Dr WAS on duty at the hospital on that occasion!! She was hooking mum up to a heart monitor and Mum crashed!! AND, even though the Dr worked on her, for over 20 minutes, when my sister, who'd ran off in sheer terror, walked back into the hospital, the Dr walked out with a grim and sad face..And told my sister she 'Did everything she could have done!!' Well!! Rubbish! When mum went to the hospital on those 1st 4 occasions!! the Dr was only a 5 minute walk away from the hospital!! Or literally less than 1 minute by car!! I'm not much good at maths!! But 4xs 24 hrs to the day, meant her Dr had nearly 100 hrs to have saved my poor old mother!! AND even though we, her family tried to take legal action!??? You'll never beat a Dr!! Because OTHER Drs blatantly lie!! AND cover their backsides!! I'm still, and I always will he heartbroken!! Because mum's Dr literally, killed my mother!! WAIT A SECOND!! You can have this procedure done without being knocked out?! I want to get one done, but I've put it off, cause I dont like the idea of being knocked out for anything. Plus I've only been in a hospital once as a kid, for removal of my tonsils and that was 54 years ago. Hospitals scare the crap out of me. I will have to look into this non-knocked out procedure. Thankx for the video!!
@paulfrombrooklyn54096 жыл бұрын
I would suggest you get over your fear of being "knocked out" and have the procedure done under anesthesia. It can be very painful. And if you are awake, even slightly sedated, they won't be able to do the entire colon because that would be much to painful. Then, when you tell them it is too painful and they should stop. They will stop. Then they will determine if they need to examine more of your colon and then they will need to "knock you out." So, man up and get it done with anesthesia.

Highly recommended. If you have any suspicion, go and make it. If it’s nothing serious then you’ll be enjoying life without worries, if there’s something more serious you’ll be able to take measures sooner which is always better. “mild” cramping lol. You can actually ask to have this done without sedation! I would describe it as feeling like *intense* cramping. It’s nice to have no grogginess when done, though. I have to get one done in three days since a doctor discovered I have polyps. I went to him saying I had hemorrhoids. I am yet to start the prep and I am really scared. I also have no one to go with me so I hope my Uber guy gets me home safe after. Sucks!!

Got this done just an hour ago. I'm only 34 but they found a polyp. I'm glad I went and had it removed. Although it was benign I am glad it is out now and won't have the chance to turn malignant if it had the potential.

I just had my 1st Colonoscopy at 55. I i i was Petrified of the PROPOFOL. My whole procedure only took about 16 minutes. It will Knock you out in 3 seconds. It’s not the same Anesthesia as major surgery.

I just had gastroscopy & colonoscopy at once. I think the preparation is not that bad, and I was under sedation so I can’t remember anything throughout the process. It’s not that difficult. I did this procedure at Singapore. I have few symptoms like loose watery stool, urge to use the restroom, feeling like my bowel doesn’t empty fully.

How is this colonoscopy instrument cleansed and sterilized? There’s a camera, suction, water hose, tweezers and cutting devices, etc. all in this main device. When I had my procedure there were lots of ppl who were there to have the same thing done. So how does this work with back to back colonoscopies and maintaining a sterile instrument for each patient?

Here in Australia when I had 9ne, the sedition ment I didn't remember the procedure at all. The nurse simply woke and there was no discomfort at all and was able to go straight back into my regular diet. The cleaning out the night before is the worst part and not that bad. Just be near a toilet for that

What happened to me after colonoscopy: I wake up and tell the nurse my stomach hurts. She says "It's the air we pumped in there, go ahead and let it out." 15 minutes later, I'm on my knees and elbows on the bed farting like a trucker that eats nothing but chili. Then, not having heard the conversation between me and the nurse, my husband walked around the corner and starts laughing so hard he couldn't talk. Overall it was a pretty entertaining experience. And yay, no pollops. I'm still farting 6 months later.....just kidding 😂😂😂😂 the worst part was the bowel prep, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR HOUSE after you start the process....seriously.

I hated the prep solution so much I asked someone (who is old enough to remember) what castor oil tasted like because I have never tasted it. It's yucky, I am sure, but the prep solution probably tastes worse than castor oil. I can't imagine ANYTHING tasting as bad as the prep. Ugh, the horrors. This was last Tuesday, Nov. 20. I have diverticulitis by the way.
@getorganizednotpianoized2396 жыл бұрын

Having the fear and anxiety of unknown is understandable. Talk to your physician to elevate all you worries. The chance of having any complications from the procedure is very minimal, and the benefits of colonoscopy outweigh any risk big time.

You can get a colonoscopy without being sedated. I had mine this way eight years ago at age 56. It feels like really bad gas --not painless, but certainly endurable. However, I was clean. If you really have the disease, I'm told the pain can be MUCH worse.

I got my colonoscopy (after 7 years of procrastinating) yesterday. Was far easier than I had expected. Propofol, which is usually used for sedation, has an extremely short half-life, so there really is no reason to advise you to have a driver take you home, nor to not drive the rest of the day. My son drove me home, but I would have been able to drive myself. After I got home, I immediately drove to the grocery store AND bought a bottle of wine!

There's a 72" colon cleaning 'snake' avail ble. This is inserted into the rectum and slowly pushed the full way into the colon. Water pressure from shower head fitting rotates outer edges of the snake which expands the brush section and rotates. The soft brushes and water jets clean the whole of the colon as its slowly removed. I removed a bucket full of undigested food and clogged faeces during this process. It's far better than the pre regular colon irrigation as the snake cleans the whole length of the colon. Once the snake hits the 90degree bend going into the large colon it has to be rotated whilst pushing to get it around the bend. Once done a couple of times it's now no problem. It's around 30mm diameter so fills the colon completely, it's actually even a nice feeling with the full 72" inserted..
