Haha cool!!! We're they a redish pinkish brown? Or were they still orangish colored?

We have had below freezing temps for about 3 weeks straight. I can’t remember a winter like that in the recent past. The river where I fish went from having a bit of ice near shore to just about full coverage in a few days. I do a lot of hiking to avoid going stir crazy but it only helps so much. Appreciate your honesty about the color changing. Pretty weird how they are reacting to just being out in the open. That red color does look good though. I have seen a few crayfish that I assume have molted or are getting ready to molt that are much more reddish orange than normal. Anyways, thanks for the video Ish. Come on spring.

The last time I saw ice like this on the river was when I was very young. I remember climbing up on top of the icebergs with my dad. I did so many tests to try and figure out why they are changing colors like that, and I haven't come up with anything. I'm definitely not against the redder color at all. I'm going to start looking for other colorant from different companies because something is telling me it shouldn't be this hard. Thanks for watchin paul!

I went down Saturday and was amazed!!...I had just fished there on the 27th😳
@fishinwithish28 күн бұрын
It really is crazy that there can be that much ice on the river like that. I mean the ice went all the way up through the fast section dumping into this area.

@fishinwithish ...It was piled up 6-8 feet already. I could barely make out the top of the boulders I'd normally stand on....And it was DEAD QUIET!!!

Yeah this winter stinks. I don't mind cold, I actually like fishing in the cold, but this is too cold. Once it gets in the low twenties and teens and the river freezes it drives me nuts, because without fishing there's just not much else to do around here lol.
@fishinwithish28 күн бұрын
I agree 💯 with everything you just said hahaha there really isn't anything good to do anyway haha
@ChesapeakeChris28 күн бұрын
I agree, subtle color variances are generally negotiable. I haven't bought many tubes (I'm a chatterbait & buzzbait guy as you know) & would have to check the color I ordered, but mine were fine last I checked. Can't launch the Ned Zeppelin or it will become the Nedtanic 😂. I'm seriously jonsen also for weather change. I fished ponds all last winter, but not this winter. Hang in there buddy, March is coming
@fishinwithish28 күн бұрын
Hahaha it would most definitely become the nedtanic🤣🤣🤣 I'm hoping that not being able to fish will just make it that much better when I do get to fish! R.I.P. to the elite challenge tho😭 thanks for watchin chris!

Holy smokes Ish! Those ice dams are gonna be around problem when we get a thaw. Color change will at least keep your mind active during this polar vortex 😅. Stay warm brother and thanks for the video!
@fishinwithish28 күн бұрын
Yeah, I am definitely wondering how long the ice will last since it's so thick, reminds me of the snow piles I would have along my driveway in like april 🤣🤣🤣
@kendudash134228 күн бұрын
No January smallie for you! LOL Only open water may be below Yough Dam or look for WWTP outflows. You may only get a few days at the end of the month as there is rising temps forecasted during the last week. Good luck.
@fishinwithish28 күн бұрын
hahaha I will be keeping an eye on the temps for sure, still got 2 weeks to see what I can come up with! WWTP makes a lot of sense now that you say that. Thanks for the info!

Damn cold weather!!! Everything froze! Hope early spring on the way. Dude you have made color changing baits! One color for a couple weeks then a different color after that! Cutting edge! Talk about new technology in the tube market! Haha! Way to own it though and tell everyone. My guess is guys will not mind and keep catching giants on these top end color changing tube's of the future! Cmon sun and warmth!!!!!
@fishinwithish28 күн бұрын
Hahaha I didn't think about that!🤣🤣🤣 that's how you know I'm not a good salesman🤣🤣🤣 I agree, I don't think anyone will mind, they definitely still catch fish haha. Haha spring is going to feel sooo good this year🤣 thanks for watchin man!!!

Winter blues yes I am up in Ontario Canada and I think we have got like 472 feet since xmas and it even makes it hard to make ice with snow insulation
@fishinwithish28 күн бұрын
472 ft is an exaggeration right? 🤣🤣🤣I mean I know you guys get a ton of snow but geez! I never thought about snow being an issue for ice fishing, makes sense now that u say that! It's cool to see a viewer from Canada, there's a couple Canadian viewers but not a lot! Thanks for watchin!!!
@TerryWade-xe8os28 күн бұрын
@fishinwithish yes probably had about 3 foot accumulated in three weeks

It really does!!! Haha I was looking forward to fishing this winter also, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen this year. Hopefully this harsh winter gets them eating hard this spring!!! Thanks for watchin!

Class act! But now I will thinknabout what could be the reason for the change in color. xD
@fishinwithish28 күн бұрын
Haha, thanks. I have looked at everything I can think of. I kept close eye on Heat, moisture, correct amount of colorant, properly shaking the colorant, changing different storage boxes, possible interactions with other colorant used and that's just off the top of my head. I definitely made more than enough tests to figure out what it is to no avail.

should be a ice out event in last week january but this has been coldest winter i remember for last 15 years
@fishinwithish28 күн бұрын
Yeah ai heard that, I remember climbing on top of much bigger icebergs on the river when ai was a kid with my dad. No idea how old I was, maybe 8 or so? so it's possibly the blocks weren't as big as i remember, but that was the last time ai remember seeing ice on the river like this
@raydalton111028 күн бұрын
@ cool but be very careful dont risk out too far, its possible a opening and swept under ice in current theres no escape, i hope ice out so u can complete ur one bass a month challenge , maybe that same bass u caught twice lool thats where u should start same place he bit lol 3 times be insane
@fishinwithish28 күн бұрын
@raydalton1110 yeah, I know, I was nervous even being on the ice like I was. I'm hoping for a warmup at sometime in January as well, but I'm not sure it'll happen. That would be crazy to get him a 3rd time😂😂

What is the average depth of the river where you were? Been a few years where I've seen the Allegheny ice over down towards Pittsburgh, but I do know the ice dams that formed caused some headaches to the towns near them.
@fishinwithish28 күн бұрын
I'm not sure but the ares this was filmed is a deep hole, much deeper than the rest of the river. I don't use any kind of electronics but definitely deeper than 6 ft haha. Thanks for watchin!
@yankeelipperfishing28 күн бұрын
Bro, I would have cracked up if you would have whipped a buzzbait across the ice. You have to cut some holes. I caught a crappie and a largie last night in open water. Had to blow out guides every cast, crazy cold.
@fishinwithish28 күн бұрын
Hahahah I wish I would've thought of that🤣🤣🤣🤣 niiice, I don't see me goin out n drilling holes on the river, if ai did it would prolly be the only ice fishin video I seen on the yough river haha

when was this vid made bc it looks Nothing like this down WN area and its more shallow down here .....
@fishinwithish28 күн бұрын
Layton area, on Saturday the 11th. This area is deep, which is why I think this happened. Moving water doesn't really freeze, so I think this deeper area froze n it just kept backing up with ice.The stretches that are shallow n moving didn't really have that much ice.

Damn, it's always a little sketchy with the snow. It's actually fine when it's fresh. Once you have tracks down in the snow it pulls your front end real bad. Sucks you crashed but at least there's a bunch of snow to fall in!
