I actually had a couple of players who individually decided to play a wild magic barbarian and sorcerer respectively they also both decided to play half-elves with a sea elf bloodline so when they popped up at the table they were a little surprised by that. It also turned out that the sorcerer came from a family with a rich and powerful bloodline who basically only cared about magical supremacy as it were. The Barbarian on the other hand was abandoned by his parents and left on the doorstep of an orphanage. So I ended up deciding as the DM that the two were actually brother and sister. It was a huge epic twist that I will forever remember.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Rage is a 1 minute ability. Normally it ends early if you don't attack or aren't attacked. Persistent Rage only means it lasts the full minute no matter what, with the exception of falling unconscious. It's not an, "I get to be super angry all day" unlock. At most it's 5-6 minutes of being extremely angry until level 20 and you can theoretically rage 1,440 times for an extremely angry, albeit exhausting, day.

If you're interested in playing Wild Magic Barb, I'd suggest looking online into some homebrew that modifies the wild magic table and some path features. In particular something that makes the wild magic damage scale as you level up (unlike the base wild magic table which i believe is constant). I've seen one that modifies the basic table and I've seen some that makes the wild magic a d20 roll with instant and/or persistent encounter-long effects. Find what looks good for you and have fun!

Champion has by far got to be one of the most boring fighter subclasses I’ve ever seen. In a certain way, this is my favorite Barbarian, doesn't scale for crap, but i still love it. My only Character with this subclass was a Rune Knight / Wild Magic Barbarian. Gotta say PRETTY STRONG. Rune Knight was good at balancing the Wild surges and i loved having to improvise and adapt. My character was like a Magical Battery that was used as an experiment for an Interdimensional Being (long story), he had so much magic funneled through his soul that got infused with magic and could "store" it. Narratively it made sense, he controlled the remnants of his power through Runes (Rune Knight), while the explosive power of Rage served as release.

Can you rage along side giants might I’ve been trying to find information on it for awhile because I love the idea of being a hulk type
@Rakkun_Streak8 ай бұрын
@@motornoise5830 I mean RAW, it is not a Spell or Spell Effect. Those are the only things that are prevented in the interaction. Giant's Might is never stated as something you would have to concentrate either, so it wouldn't make sense that you couldn't do it at the same time. I see it just like Wild Shape. You CAN Wild Shape and Rage, a special effect that does not work like a spell but does use Magic, per se. So yeah, on my table you could, and there's nothing in the rules that says you can't. But as always, the legally required: "Ask your DM if it's possible".
@MFAniki639015 күн бұрын
I had an idea for a Duergar Rune Knight/Artificer. I was curious a while back when I was last watching Attack on Titan if I could make a Titan in D&D. With 18 levels of Rune Knight and Enlarge/Reduce from the Duergar, I could theoretically grow to become Gargantuan. I took two level of Artificer since firstly, it fit tonally for the character as I imagine a black smith explorer looking through ancient ruins tied to the Titans of old, the precursors of the Gods, discovering my new runes from completing these dungeons, and secondly, at level two of Artificer, you can get the Infusion 'Mind Sharpener' which gives me four charges that I can use to maintain concentration if I should ever fail a con save on Enlarge/Reduce (very useful since I can only maintain that spell once per day). I just hope I get to use this character some day, just to have the DM say that "A dragon descends onto the party, licking it's lips as it stares down at the party." Only for my character to grow so large it's staring it in the eye.
@Rakkun_Streak15 күн бұрын
@@MFAniki6390 Ohhh, that sounds dope, and you only need like 3 Levels of Rune Knight and 2 Levels in Artificer for actually bring it to life. I will say that if you don't mind losing a Level in Fighter, how about being an Gargantuan Armored Titan?
@MFAniki639015 күн бұрын
@@Rakkun_Streak While being a literal Gundam sounds fantastic, I need the 18th level of Rune Knight to became ridiculously huge. With Giant's Might at level 18 I become Huge and with Enlarge/Reduce causes me to grow one size larger to Gargantuan. If we play with minis, it would he hilarious for me to have the DM have to put down a figure of my character as large as the boss we're fighting. But I noticed something hilarious when I was looking at feats the other night. With the feat 'Strike of the Giants' you can take a special ability based on the different types of Giants in the game, and for the Cloud Giant you gain the ability to become invisible for a turn to an opponent you attack if they fail a Wisdom save. It's hilarious to me to be a 60ft tall wall of meat that smacks you with a weapon larger than you and suddenly... 'pop', now the boss can't see me. And it somehow fits because the Duergar learns Invisibility at level 5.

I once maid a multi class wild magic barbarian/wild magic sorcerer for a high level one -shot my group played. Came up with a system with my DM that he had a chance of any spell failing depending on several factors on top of wild magic surge issues, and a “failed” spell would send him into a rage. Wasn’t as chaotic as I hoped it would be, there were surprisingly few opportunities for spell casting until the final boss fight so nothing triggered, but I did accidentally turn one of my party members into a sheep after the battle was over and I had a wild magic surge happen on a sending or message spell as we were wrapping up. lol. I still think the character could be a lot of fun in a more long-term setting, but haven’t had the opportunity to break it out yet.

Honestly, looking at the table, I would just ask the DM if you could give the abilities Cantrip scaling or something. Like each gain a D6 at level 5, 11, and 17. The only one that sounds busted on would be the Necrotic Damage burst since it would be a 4D12 damage with a failed Dex save and 4D12 in Temp HP but it looks like it's a one time effect so it might be okay.
