In the latest episodes of Young and the Restless on CBS from July 29 - August 9, 2024, the Newman family, led by Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), play hardball to achieve their goals.
Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) suspect something amiss with Chelsea Lawson Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) is in a precarious state, haunted by the ghost of her deceased daughter Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes). Her discussions with Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) about their shared past only intensifies her distress.
Meanwhile, Victor's attempt to acquire Chancellor Industries raises concerns about Lily Winter's (Christel Khalil) loyalty. Sparks fly when Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) confronts his son Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) in public, leading to a tense family dynamic. Chelsea and Adam receive joyful news about their son Connor Newman (Judah Mackey), but their happiness is short-lived as a confrontation with Billy and Sally looms.
As the week unfolds, Sharon makes a shocking confession to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) asserts her dominance, and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) executes a risky plan. The worst thing about Sharon spinning out is she has some type of degree in psychology. She uses it to gives advice. Got fired from the only job she had in the field. Why did they have her get the degree in the first place? Yet another example of bad wrighting. Just because mental health is a hot topic today doesn't mean we need to have mutiple storylines at the same time.

Belinda, I'm in agreement that there are just too many mental illness storylines back to back. As far as I'm concerned, the OCD storyline with Conner should've benn ended before bringing on Sharon Bi-polar/manic depression storyline. Really Y & R should've given us fans a break after Ashley (Eileen Davis) awesome acting in her multiple personalities storyline.

@patriciagill9513 Yet she could not get in bed quick enough to break them up. Adam and Sally. You see, with this story, Sally doesn't understand the relationship. Audra told her what was going to happen. She kept on saying we were in love. Sally got used terrible by Nick. I believe these writers try to show this when they have these women leave Adam and end up with Nick, but if anything, it makes the women look very bad ,and in the end the woman loses St. Nick walks away foot loose and fancy free. Sage died, and Nick ended up with Adam's son. Somebody explained that one to me. Adam, having to raise his son, would have made him a better person. Chelsea was going with Nick she ended up alone in the town's nuts, and Sally ended up having a miscarriage. Wow, how she wanted her baby, maybe her having her child might have made her a better person. Every woman loses something big, not St. Nick, in fact, I remember Adam telling Nick at the bar one night that you spoke to me like a person for less than a year after I gave my kidney up. This is the writers not the person playing these parts. The woman that plays Phyllis told it on her X page. She stated that when you get a job here, you don't tell them what you will not play. They tell you. She was saying how many times people write them terrible letters thinking they are like the people they play and that not true.

For the same reason that Nick dug Adam out of a pile of tornado rubble and flew him home for an overnight kidney transplant to Faith. Transplant donors need many days of both physical and mental testing and prep. And the same reason that Diane came back from the dead and faced no consequences for all the people who ended up suspected, then imprisoned because of her deception. And the same reason that Noah the artist, with no experience in business start running his Dad's company then the company vanishes when Noah goes back to London or wherever he ended up. The writers are stoooopid!!!!!

Why did y&r miss the golden opportunity to utilize Trevor St. John's enormous talent rather than waste him with Ashley Abbott? He could have given old Victor a run for his money but wasn't given a chance. Victor has ruled too long with his money and his arrogance. Bring Trevor back with a huge contract and major storyline. Add some drama and spice to the show.

This is not how International Businesses are run; it's how Hollywood believes how Corporations are run.

This soap is seriously going down hill. There’s no character development. It’s the same recycled storylines with Adam firmly placed as the forever villain. I understand it’s a soap but they can try to make the stories believable? How in the world is Nikki remotely qualified to run a huge corporation like Chancellor Industries? Why is no one calling her out on that? It would be perfect dialogue banter for Adam to bring that up and snap back at her and the rest of the snobby family whenever they come at him. It would certainly make the show more interesting to watch, with the sarcastic humor and spicyness. Clearly Josh and the writing team have no imagination.

I wonder why it seems that I am the only one who thinks Diane's ascent to power IS part of her master plan to come back and take all the power away from Jack. Kyle was, in fact, more qualified than Diane for that position. And why WOULDN'T Kyle take action to cover for her mistakes and try to save the integrity of his family's company? Yes, he seems to be acting like a jerk, but what shoulld he have done if he wanted to protect his (not Diane's) family legacy? So, with Diane firing Kyle, she is one step closer to taking over. Watch out, Jack. Your blindness to Diane's goals doesn't even make sense.

The story line with Sharon has just reached new depths of absurdity. Full blown visual/aural hallucinations only occur in severe psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia. Somebody get the writing team a copy of the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders).

It's great that Josh has written in mental health issues because people deal with it every day or people have someone in their family. Sharon is a great example of a successful story. I hate to see him write a storyline that takes her backwards. It's good for people to see success stories from people getting therapy and meds. I get that he's bringing awareness but it's time for the characters to come out on the other side and have happy storylines. I do NOT want to see Nikki or Jack relapse again. We've seen that over and over.

interesting spoilers. I'm cool with the mental health stories. I love love love Claire Vic n Cole storyline and how it integrates with Summer n kyle controversies. Both stories actually resonate with real life and advocating for different adversities and tragedies that affect children and the coming of age of such a child whose been through trauma. otherwise all we have all the repetitive corporate take over stuff; and musical boyfriend girlfriend switch a roo doe se doe. I been watching Y and R since I was a kid, sitting in my grandmother's living room who was into YnR. I seen a lot of storylines and forgot a lot of em. but I can never forget Cassie's death or Delia's death. I don't think anyone will forget when Eve came home.

I think they need to consider getting a new younger writer with nrw fresh ideas. Lately everything is so repetative storylines. Get some new fresh ideas to add excitement and storylines like the use to have before. Romance and familys getting together. There is so much deression in this soap lately add some good times and good romance instead fmof so much negativty in this soap. Its getting really bring to watch. The storylines last way to long and they leave out so many actors. Like Tessa & Mariah with there daughter.Doesn't anybody ever end up happy anymore.
