I was a BMW technician and I didn’t see my self spending half of my income in tools. Im glad i went to work for an energy company back 15 years ago. My ex-colleagues are still struggling and not because of mismanagement but because cost of living and cost of tools/equipment.

Some of us have a passion for what we do and tools are a reward for learning. The tool kit reflects the skill set for most of us who have been at it for a while. There’s a level of pride and satisfaction in my tools.

While I agree with your point on spending a bunch of money on tools, I have been working with the same dealer for 3 years and I haven't spent anywhere near half my income on tools. The tools are an investment and if you invest in yourself, you'll make more money in the long run.

@@John_Rod I agree with you tools are an investment and that’s why I still have my $45 thousand worth of SnapOn hand tools. Now, in my case, I let my company spend that money in German made tools. From a flashlight to a tool box, (Wera, Stahlwille)is provided to me at zero cost. I wish the auto industry was like that.

I used a boxtruck for my mobile auto repair business and it was honestly part of my downfall. It was so inefficient, big, hard to maneuver, and too much cost up front. I should have stayed in my econline 350. If i had, i would probably still be in business. I went to the max too soon without having the customer base to stay in business. It was a hard lesson to learn but i dont regret anything. This guy using a van like his, is absolutely perfect.

Harbor freight has some great tools!! Obviously you can't get everything you need there and there's nothing wrong with buying some brand name tools, but just be smart about it. You don't need snap on everything to be a good mechanic. I love me some Japanese, German, and usa made tools, but you don't need them to do a good job.

He may be able to utilize Milwaukee's new packout wall system for the sprinter. I was looking to need to pick up a speed handle...I may look into adding one of those motion pro t-handles. They show a 1/4, 3/8, and bit driver

Nice. Good luck man. I’m a mobile marine diesel mechanic. I’ve been for over 23 years and about 18 years self employed. I have more work then I know what to do with. It takes time to get your name out there. I think your approach is smart. Over head is the number one killer in small business. Keeping your cost down at first is a good idea. Great video.

5:20.. not to mention...trucks (box trucks) sway alot and ride like well, trucks..Sprinter vans drive like cars and don't swing and sway near as much 9:15.. I have these in my garage..they work and they not very expensive if you did need to toss it and get new ones Very cool setup..good luck to you brother 👍 20:15.. you could go with the Gearwrench 120xp digital torque wrenches..much less expensive and accurate..plus if it walks off your truck it isn't $1000

Spent 30 yesrs working out of vans in Uk and Spain....short wheel base Sprinter was best for me....i like the tailgate on Vito as shade and ouy of rain a bit...bit wasnt as robust on dirtracks😂

He should think about a set of Vessel screwdrivers.The Japanese use JIS screws that look like phillips and are not with a dot on the head of the screw. Use a Phillips screwdriver on a JIS,will strip it out

Love the bauer im a heavy diesel tech and not running Milwaukee you get the side eye from the old guy but they havent let me down and a 2 5amp hour battery pack and charger cost less then a single 5amp hour m18

And they definitely do some of their own R&D at their California headquarters, I'm not going to pretend it's some gobsmacked amount. But there's former Snap-On employees they've hired for designing toolboxes and it's literally all out there on LinkedIn..... Will Sharp: worked at SnapOn for almost 5 years and was a Sr Design and Project Engineer. Has been with Harbor Freight since 2017 and he's a Sr. Director - Engineering & Product Development in Calabasas, CA. They've iterated on other peoples (great) ideas and managed to even improve them on occasion as well. (ex: Badland jack vs Pro Eagle- Badland has better features out of the box and it wasn't because some Chinese slave at the factories, where Pro Eagle and SnapOn also have their floor jacks made, came up with the idea to put a latch on the handle to lock it into position and make it 10x easier to maneuver than the OG Pro Eagle, somebody over at HF HQ came up with that one and now the CAT brand licensed jacks are copying it because it's a genuinely great idea for the associated product) On that same jack they skirted around copying their extension pin design as it's prone to damage, they added side handles to make it easier to carry, and put sealed bearings on the wheels as moisture ingress and shielded bearings on the Pro Eagle = no bueno, especially when this jack is meant to work in the mud. Hope you don't buy Milwaukee otherwise you're arguably an even bigger hypocrite. Not even U.S. owned, verified to have had Milwaukee branded products made by slave labor.

Just because it's not from Harbor Freight doesn't magically absolve you of all your hypocrisies and give you the right to pretend you're sanctimonious on....KZbin.... And HF definitely has some level of R&D considering there's social networking/jobs websites (that KZbin will probably censor if I mention them explicitly) with hiring histories showing HF has picked up talent from SO, pretty sure the one profile I'm looking at is the guy who helped design their toolboxes, not at all hard to find via google. There's a former Sr. Design and Project Engineers from SO that are now a Sr Director of Product development at the Calabasas HQ. And which of these socket sets in question were made by slave labor again? Almost no Icon hand tool products are even made in China and the implicit suggestion of slave labor is always coming from people who think it's a Chinese made product.
