That depends upon once earning power . If you are capable of eating coffee tiffin at ITC chola or Sheraton hotels , you can invest atleast Rs5000 a day. First find out where you can afford to have your coffee, tiffin.

There are more mutual funds than stocks today, it is equally different choosing good MF compare to stocks. When you advocate for MF , openly talk about its hefty fees . explain how many failed funds rebrand or closed. Compare MF that beaten the index over that long term . Why you are not talking more index funds compare MF.
