Title is clickbait-ish!
Please know that it is NOT a hate video, I enjoy listening to these three ladies. I want to be as objective as possible, It's only based on their vocal techniques.
Of course, there are some things they do better now but in general their techniques were better, especially when it comes to Lauren.
Enjoy!

@@carpediemearth so I'm automatically bitter because I have no right to judge someone who DELIBERATELY put herself in PUBLIC? For your information, I loved her voice the most out of the five of them until she abused tf out of it. Her "husk" is not deliberate and it's a product of her smoking, straining, and just her vocal bad habits in general. Husky =/= bluesy =/= sexy. You're trying to make a relationship between three concepts that doesn't necessarily connect with each other. It's an outlier, sure, but it's not the rule. I think with Perrie it is a mix between vocal exhaustion and vocal decline from a poor technique. LM had 3 tours last year. In the span of a year! There are off moments where she does hit the notes with more ease throughout that span but when she’s overworked you hear her voice struggle a lot more. Even Jade had to self admittedly lip a whole show because she was medically not allowed to perform. Perrie used to always try to aim for more difficult note but now her and the other girls especially Jade and Leigh change up the vocals so they can still hit the notes just different ones. I’m hoping in LM5 they come back more refreshed.

Bronwyn It's not that I badly want them or literaly torturing them to realese an album. Since they've announced that they are going to do so ,as a devoted fan I have the right to get excited at any of their activities they initiate. Ofcourse I want the girls to take rest and refresh as I mentioned before. But since they have announced this, you say I can't even be excited for the new songs or the era basically they are yet to gonna show us? Um ..I totally can be. And nowhere in hell that I've mentioned that I want them to release it just now or am pushing it anyhow, just being "excited" for something dosen't mean to push and forcefully take it. I'm happy at whatever they're doing or wanna do in near future cuz I'll support them in whatever they do so since they've announced this and are working hard for this, I'll support and be excited for their next era and for their effort that they put in. Peace.
@Noxtrust
@Noxtrust 6 жыл бұрын
Bronwyn oh I totally agree with you. They’re the hardest working artists right now. So many artists take literal years to release new music. Adele, Ed Sheeran, Beyoncé, Ariana, Lady Gaga, Demi, Rihanna....I don’t know if it’s the label pushing them really hard or if it’s the girls who desperately want to break into America. And feel they need to strike when the oil is hot because they are growing bigger by the day. They’re management makes really poor decisions when it comes to touring. They work them to the bone but insist on them doing UK tours instead of world tours. The UK already loves them! They need to tour new places. They need to tour North America, not vocally exhaust themselves to the same crowds multiple times a year. As a fan I’d love to have new music but I also want them to have a lengthy career so if that means waiting another year, I’d rather do that.
@Noxtrust
@Noxtrust 6 жыл бұрын
Bronwyn oh my god yes! You’re speaking my language. And it’s not even that they wouldn’t sell out venues here. They’re album is sitting at roughly over 1.1 million copies sold last time I checked. To put it in perspective (not trying to be shady) but FH sold just under 60,000 for their last album as a four piece. Little Mix literally double their own sales in a matter of a year! They’re blowing up all over. That’s why I think the management keeps pushing them. They’re money makers despite people thinking they’re not known. They’re all young women now, they need some North American media push. An award show of two and of course a lengthy break so that they can relax. I wish they wouldn’t have toured this summer, just focused on resting. I’ve also heard theories that LM is in a 5 album deal with syco and the girls want to rush it so they can sign somewhere else. Don’t know how much truth there is to that.
@Noxtrust
@Noxtrust 6 жыл бұрын
Bronwyn no worries about the essay! I could talk about their shifty management all day. I think the majority of their fans feel the same. And I totally feel you, they need substantial, creditable exposure and success. It’s interesting to note that One Direction was also in the same boat as LM and FH. They came out with 5 albums in the matter of 7 years. It’s insane to think about. And I’m wondering if maybe their label (all of them signed to Sony/syco) feel the need to really milk them for what they’re worth because they fear they’ll eventually want to pursue solo careers. I don’t see that happening with Little Mix for a few more years. I think they genuinely love the group and want to reach global success before that could happen. FH definitely experienced wide spread success but it didn’t last long. They had a few bits that were super successful but eventually couldn’t deliver anything else of the same magnitude. Whereas LM I feel keep rolling with the punches and steadily gaining which is a good thing because it means they’re constantly improving their craft. We need a Frozen or a Crazy In Love!!!

My baby Perrie just needs a long rest because Syco overwork her and the rest of the girls of Little Mix with Tours. Poor lauren her voice sounded very powerful and clean. I love her raspy voice in lower and middle tone, but sometimes when I hear her sing high notes with tension, throatiness and raspy sound, my throat hurts...

@eamcbmsc 6 жыл бұрын
BEANZ I agree with you about Perrie. They should give Leigh Anne some of her belts and give Jade some of her runs in order take some of the stress off her voice. They did 3 tours within a year and a half, Perrie needs to rest a little on the next album. She'll already have to do troublesome notes from previous hits like lightening and shout to my ex on the lm5 tour. I think as a group they need to have a convo with the label and Perrie needs say "if you want me to do lm5, lm6, and lm7 there will have to be cuts to the amount of performance or I have to lower the amount of strain I'm under."
@yas1499
@yas1499 6 жыл бұрын
eamcbmsc but Jade's voice is getting pretty bad as well. Remember the Glory days the poor girl lost her voice twice, almost 3 times, all the girls need extreme vocal rest, they sounded so horrible towards the end of the tour and not only did they do 3 tours in a year and a half but they also two to three shows on the same day for some of them. No artist should go through that much strain period. But yes Perrie needs some extensive vocal rest and the girls should focus on their vocal lessons more
@eamcbmsc
@eamcbmsc 6 жыл бұрын
yas 14 My girl? I don’t like jade anymore than the rest of the girls. The reason I pointed out Perrie is because perrie was in this video, but I do think that perrie’s voice has been the most effected by this touring schedule. At this point, I still believe the problems are reversible, but it doesn’t look like the rest she needs is going to happen. At one point during the tour, jade’s voice was being hammered so she decided to change some of her high notes. Because of the way little mix arranges parts, perrie has most of the crowd pleaser moments so instead of rearranging the song slightly Perrie tried to push through; which, isn’t the best decision. Even with her decline, Perrie is still one of the best pop vocalist. What I’m trying to say is that if she continues on this road there won’t be a lm6. Even leigh Anne learned to dodge notes later in the tour, although she didn’t do it quite as well as jade. Perrie needs to find ways to rest in songs if they are going to perform like they did for glory days.

Little Mix Forever no babe what you aren’t understanding is that Lm5 is an album, an album that has production and sounds altered for it to sound perfect,as in auto tune and other factors that alter the singers voices not to sound so rough and natural. Little mix on tour sound beautiful but they don’t sound like they do on an album because they’re voices aren’t manufactured like in the album, as in no auto tuned. They aren’t perfect but they do sing amazing. What you don’t seem to be comprehending is that an album song while a live song are two totally different key points to an artist. I could explain it more because you clearly aren’t understanding what the person above you is trying to tell you.

slaymeclarkson c: i still think it’s demi’s prime tbh. yes she doesn’t support as much as she used to but no one can deny her technique is getting better. the tmylm era is her best era for agility and head voice. her head voice/falsetto is not even close to fully developed but compared to her past years it’s so much better. let me rephrase...i acutally don’t think she’s at her prime yet but i think she’s definitely on her way. side note lol she said she could release new music in a couple of weeks and i’m very excited but sad the tmylm era was so short

slaymeclarkson c: TMYLM is her prime ....and if it's not .....it's definitely NOT Unbroken (2011-2012) .....it would be here we go again. ...that was her largest consistent supported range ....while TMYLM is her largest inconsistent vocal range

blogistuff i disagree. HWGA was great for tone. demi was inconsistent in almost everything except support. Unbroken was consistent with way more while still having nice tone. plus, Demi never really hit the F5 (not that much anyway, and it was lowkey bad everytime she did) in HWGA so i hold that grudge lol
@blogistuff4383

slaymeclarkson c: she had more than support in HWGA .......also I respect your opinion but I don't see Unbroken as her prime ....that sky high larynx. ....was just no....and although her tone was nice ....her voice was weak when not resonating. ...you could tell ...her voice wasn't in the best shape....Unbroken is the most popular for it's tone ...which I think is actually my fave tone ....but early TMYLM wasn't Nasal ....only a little and most of the time she wasn't Nasal ....She had a nice tone in early TMYLM ....tell me you love me uses mix more than High larynx to hit high notes can't say the same for Unbroken ....Unbroken had very agile runs ....but she got this annoying tone when doing her runs ...TMYLM has better runs and doesn't have the annoying run tone.....Demi barley dodges her low notes now ....In Confident she didn't even want to hit a Eb3 often ....she's hitting it every show ....Unbroken she didn't have good low notes either .....Only Era i see TMYLM beat in low notes is DEMI which wins by a long shot ....maybe here we go again cause of the support ......Head voice ....she's the most consistent in Head Voice support ...,she can even run with head voice ....Unbroken had a few good C6s but Demi beats every other head voice note right now ....

As a Mixer I'd like to comment about the Perrie's part. I agree with everything you said, and as you said I think that she needs a vocal rest. The first clips are all from a single performance or tours where they didn't dance that much. But in the last years they started to dance a lot and make tours and other things. So she basically had not time to rest and she started struggling with her voice. I hope you get what I mean

CaptainDinah Edwards how long will Perrie's voice hold on like this? She has the most belts in the group and she does them night after night and they are already preparing to release lm5 this year. They should give Leigh Anne some of the belts and give Jade some of the runs in order take some of the stress off her voice. They did 3 tours within a year and a half, Perrie needs to rest a little on the next album. She'll already have to troublesome notes from hits on the lm5 tour. I think as a group they need to have a convo with the label and Perrie needs say "if you want me to do lm5, lm6, and lm7 there will have to be cuts to the amount of performance or I have to lower the amount of strain I'm under." If Perrie keeps on this path lm5 may be the last little mix album at the level of get weird and glory days in terms of vocals from Perrie.

Demi’s lower chest register used to be stronger, but her technique past a C#5 (sometimes D5) was absolutely terrible. I think the Confident era had the perfect mix of healthy belting and a strong mix, but her lack of head voice prevented her from more of heady mix. Technically, she’s in her prime. Sonically, I think she shined in the Confident era. A lot of people like her light tone from the Unbroken Era, but after hearing her natural tone from these more recent eras, it sounds so fake and unhealthy. Not a hate comment, just my opinion, I agree with a lot of what you said. Love your videos. 😊

The best thing about Perrie's vocals and techniques' change since Salute era was that her tone has become more polished and womanly compared to how overly powerful her tone was before 2013 but the massive amounts of concerts and tours really does caused her voice to deteriote. I agree that since she needs to handle a lot of challenging belts in LM's songs, compared to the other members, requires her to always be in a tip top condition vocally but that is what Perrie ain't able to get, in fact what all of the members cannot get sufficiently especially at this moment. I do admit that i can't contain my anticipation for LM5 but i think i can comprehend it if they decide to take some time off for themselves a month or two before coming out with the lead single of the record and embrace the stage again 😌

I think Demi is still figuring it out. I wouldn't say that OVERALL she's regressed. She has dropped in her consistent support. I do think that the ease and strides she's taken in notes above C#5 in comparison to the 2008-2013 era is great. Her head register has grown more consistent as well. It's all a draw to me. She's definitely been regressive in her consistent support though.

I don’t think Demi will ever be able to go back and have the voice she had in Unbroken era. She got sick SO MANY TIMES after Unbroken, had to take off her tonsils, 2014 was such a dark and bad year for her and i think, somehow, she hurt her voice. From 2015 to now she really got better but her voice is hurt enough to not be able to go back at unbroken era. A funny thing is: Perrie also had to take off her tonsils! So maybe thats a thing? In Lauren’s case, she smokes A LOT of weed (she once was arrested in Brazil cuz it’s illegal here lol) and 5H used to do so many shows maybe she overused her voice. Anyway even knowing it’s wrong i love her raspy/airy voice. Great video. Xx

Arthur Mendes She pretty much always uses an overly chesty mix nowadays, yes. I don't know how I feel about her low larynx, since lowering your larynx on belts is actually a classical technique employed by opera singers to maximize projection and resonance. But with her, it doesn't seem like she truly mastered low larynx belting, so it comes out messy quite often.

I’m so sad about Lauren, her voice was so beautiful in their X factor journey I thought it would be her to exceed in the popular girl in the group.. she really needs to stop with the weed, it’s not doing her career any justice you can see how much it affected her voice with a couple of years. Love you Lauren xx

Dora Màrquez there is not enough American singers for that only Beyoncé can support above E5 and she’s a mezzo it would have to be all Koreans I can name almost 10 off the top of my head that can support to E5 or higher

Demis tone nowadays is really not my favourite.. compared to her old voice it sounds very shrill and throaty.. also quite nasally. Her voice was more beautiful in 2012/13

It would have been impossible for her to keep her old voice because she was 16 when she went in X Factor so it would have changed anyway. Don't believe me? Look at Camila

chris lamb exactly. That's also killing Ariana, which sucks because she has the ability to song with good technique but chooses to change her voice to fit into the pop mold.

Demi is getting better in terms of technique if you compare 2018 with 2014. I honestly don’t think it’s fair to compare her now with 2012

blogistuff exactly my point. Her support may have declined, but mixed voice is part of technique. She did improve and the fact she wasn’t sober in 2012 makes me feel like it’s not actually a fair comparison.

Demi isn’t even lacking support, and if we are being honest cell phone videos are almost an impossible way to truly understand vocal technique, because of the amount of distortion they have on the voice. The creator of the video talked about resonance, but I’m not even sure they actually understand what all that entails. Demi has pretty good resonance in the middle and upper part of her full voice. And some of the videos attempting to support this no resonance claim have a normal performance vs a performance where the microphone clearly has an equalizer, as well as more distortion and reverb. I can understand a little bit about Lauren, but even she doesn’t sound that bad.

Demi had her tonsil surgery after 'Demi' era, which is around 2014. After her tonsil surgery, her voice are not as projected and clear as she used to be. I think this also is a major reason why she has tension in her voice right now.

okay the demi segment of this video brings tears to my eyes because you have so well showcased her strengths when her discography warranted mid belts and lower 5th octave climaxes...I honestly believe the demi era put alot of strain on her voice and thus resulted in a wider range but less support and natural tone.. I also personally think Demis desire to be known as a powerhouse vocalist has led her to OVERSING and she consciously supports with her throat to come out the gates sounding like she's belting her face off when she's barely singing above an A4

Now a days seems like every time Demi is on a presentation she's in constantly pain. She used to give her all back then, like, put out not only her voice, but her emotions too, she communicated singing. You could actually feel the message. Now she's so concentrated on the vocal that she can't pass the message and really, it seems very painful to sing.
