There is a wonderful mini series called The Empress (on Netflix) about Sissi of Austria. It was fantastic. Her sister was supposed to marry the emperor, but he fell in love with Sissi and vice versa. She was much loved by the people of Austria. I saw the castle, and Sissi’s exhibit when I traveled to Austria.

This is a series of 3 movies called „Sissi“ about the Austrian emperor Franz-Josef and empress Elisabeth (Sissi). The movies were filmed in the 1950s in German. They are still available on DVD (for instance Amazon) and might be available on some streaming services. As far as I know, there are versions only with the German language or with English subtitles and a dubbed version in English. Make sure that the DVDs contain the language version you prefer as there are different editions.

HELENE aurait mieux convenue au poste et se serait vite acclimatée aux nombreux devoirs et à l'obéissance à sa belle mère... ils ont commis une erreur et l'ont payé toute leur vie ou ils ont été souvent séparés et en désaccord sur tous les sujets. SIssi a fait son devoir en donnant un héritier a l'empereur ...mais sa nature la rattrapée. L'héritier qui lui aussi souffrira de la rigidité de la cours, de la politique de son père, et de l'éducation stricte et violente d'un futur empereur... il y aura Mayerling.... cest une histoire yriste et une gin de dynastie.
