Really interesting review matey, never seen a Saison as a kit. Great stuff 🍺

Many thanks for watching and commenting. As usual it was brewed "as standard" so any changes from how I brewed it could produce a slightly different outcome (even water profile 😉). Stay safe and well, SIR, cheers, Schnuz.

Many thanks for watching and commenting and it was pretty good, a five star is very rare for me, it's got to be exceptional, most get four, it's not often I give less due to the standard these days. Stay safe and well, SIR, cheers, Schnuz.

Just drunk my first pint of this and to be honest, I really enjoyed it. Will definitely do another. Cheers

Many thanks for watching and commenting, not a bad kit but to be honest, for the price, I would have expected better. Stay safe and well, SIR, cheers, Schnuz.

Seemed a nice beer but then I do like a saison. We will have you drinking hazy pale ales soon Schnuz! And 6% plus ones too😂

Many thanks for watching and commenting Dts. Not on a regular basis or with any pleasure to the former and only if I feel like being found in a corner in a lake of puke to the second one 😲🤣. I'm not a lightweight but I find it nigh on impossible to curb my drinking style to anything over about 4.5%. I like the taste of beer and the more I drink the faster I guzzle it 🤣. I can occasionally set off steady but two or three in they start getting tipped down at a slightly alarming rate 🤣. Stay safe and well, SIR, cheers, Schnuz.

well at least this brew wasn't a definite not buy again. I have stoped brewing beers I never tried and instead going back to my favs. A nice brown ale and bitters make me happy. Cheers 😀👍🍻

Many thanks for watching and commenting. It wasn't a bad beer, actually a pretty good beer, but there are more kits out there that are more tailored to my preference, brown ales and bitters as you mentioned 😎. Stay safe and well, SIR, cheers, Schnuz.

i did thay a few years ago, ming, must have done something wrong with mine

Many thanks for watching and commenting. The kit comes with a dry hop stage, it probably doesn't mention it in the instructions but you probably need to keep the dry hop to a fairly minimum time. If you leave the hops in too long they can add a nasty, dank, wet cardboard type of flavour from my experience 🤢. This may be a problem with using hop pellets, I don't really know but I have dry hopped in the barrel in the past using hop cones without any issue (I did only use about 10g so it might also be a quantity issue🤔). It could be an experiment for the future but if you have a fairly large amount of hop pellets to be used as a dry hop then defo keep it to an absolute max of three days, preferably two. Stay safe and well, SIR, cheers, Schnuz.

what do you do with the ingredients you dont use in the kits you brew?
@SchnuzАй бұрын
Many thanks for watching and commenting, any extra ingredients are stashed for later use. The brewing sugar I will definitely use at some point, I will probably do a side by side taste test of a single can kit first, one using brewing sugar, the other using standard table sugar. I have brewed with both and I haven't noticed any difference, apart from brewing sugar tends to ferment out maybe a day quicker. Non branded yeasts I tend to bin off. Branded yeasts I keep on the off chance that I may use it at some point in the future (doubtful as I like the properties of S-04 yeast, I can have clear beer in three weeks). I have posted yeasts to other people in the past when they couldn't get any (mainly during the height of the pandemic) but most eventually just gets binned. I most often use any hops supplied but will keep them if not and use (often in smaller quantities) as a pimp for inferior kits (if it's already been reviewed. The brewing sugar can also be used in country wines as I don't often review them. Stay safe and well, SIR, cheers, Schnuz.

if you don't use the ingredients, just the wort and same yeast - aren't they all basically the same as each other pal !!!! Surely Saison is in the yeast?
@peterdowden6337Ай бұрын
I made the saison and you definitely need to use the saison yeast to the true style. Great review as usual though

Many thanks for watching and commenting and no, definitely not. All malt kits come with a pre hopped malt extract which mainly contains the bittering element. There is some flavour but generally no aroma unless there is a dry hop stage. If brewed and served correctly the yeast should have almost zero impact on the flavour. All pre hopped malt extract kits taste different from each other it depends on what malt and what hops have been used. I've been doing these kit reviews to give a basic taste test comparison to all available kits, the end user can then decide whether or not to change the result by differing it from "standard". I could brew every kit that is available "as standard to the kit" but I have been at this for more than a year already and I do wish I had never started it in the first place 🤣! Stay safe and well, SIR, cheers, Schnuz.

@@peterdowden6337 Many thanks for watching and commenting. I've been reviewing all of the kits available to give a "base line" standard. I like to drink beer as it should be served, clear and yeast free, which is why I use S04 yeast. If brewed and served correctly a yeast should have minimal impact on the flavour of the finished beer but I also don't want to wait three months for the yeast to clear out of the beer, hence the S04 and I'll stop there before the reply is an small novel 🤣. I'm glad you enjoyed the review, stay safe and well, SIR, cheers, Schnuz.
