"No Christian says this" lmao that's a shitty version of Pascals wager which is a really common Christian talking point

All of the stupid things theists said about anything, "Science wouldn't exist without Christianity" is the stupidest of them all 😂 How can someone so confidently saying something like that lol
@gordonbruce3732 ай бұрын
Science existed LONG before Christianity was a dream!!
@6MaxSix62 ай бұрын
Yes for e.g. Thales, Pythagoras, Leucippus, Democritus, Hippocrates etc. all doing science 4-5 centuries before God supposedly raped Mary.

Im an atheist but I just hate how much you butcher history by saying that Bronze Age goat hoarders believed in Christianity when the Bronze Age was 4000 years before Christianity, that’s like saying game of thrones was filmed in the medieval ages… And secondly I don’t get why you think they were “batshit crazy”, they were like me and you just with less knowledge about the world so they didn’t know any better than to believe their regional gods.
@oeoliverevans2 ай бұрын
I never said in my video that Bronze Age goat herders were Christians, though they likely had very similar beliefs. They were most certainly 'batshit crazy' relative to our current understanding. You can be considered 'batshit crazy' in proportion to the time and still be justified in that belief, as it was their way of explaining what couldn’t yet be explained.
@carmensavu51222 ай бұрын
They did batshit crazy stuff and believed batshit crazy stuff all the way through the 1800s at least, let alone 4000 years ago. They may have not been crazy in the psychiatric sense, but don't underestimate the capacity of ignorance to breed insane behavior.

"So what?" That's your only argument. Smh

First of all, "So what?" is a question, not an argument. Not only is it not an argument, but you also managed to pick the only supposed "argument" out of the many I made that were. What follows holds true. Care to provide constructive criticism?

Out of all the shit he said, and you latched to one fucking phrase he said that was convenient for you to latch onto and wasn’t even him making an arguement….

generally Francis Bacon is credited with the scientific method but things were added later such as peer review. So you and the OP are wrong but hes more wrong.

It’s not a false dichotomy to say that either a God exists or no gods exist. Those are in fact the only two possibilities. Knocking two rocks together to make fire isn’t science. There’s no scientific method involved. There’s no testable prediction at the end. It’s just human ingenuity.

@@kreedofspades1009 some people still believe that the earth is flat and it's about 6k y.o. it's funny to see religious people trying to defend creationism and pretend they have any knowledge of "science" at the same time.
@nicholassterling-h5k2 ай бұрын
@@kreedofspades1009 I would never say that for a number of reasons. Firstly, Newton didn’t posit a theory of relativity; he posited a theory of gravity - which wasn’t relativistic. Secondly, Newton’s theory of gravity was actually scientific, because it answered what were then all of the current observations of gravity made testable predictions for outs own implications. Those testable predictions - which turned out to be wrong - were actually part of the impetus for EINSTEIN’S theory of relativity, a better explanation of our observation of the force of gravity than Newton’s.

The stones get heated up due to friction on rubbing and produce fire.The method of making fire was refined through trail and error. That is 100% science , the scientific method is the process of objectively establishing facts through testing and experimentation.
@oeoliverevans2 ай бұрын
I'll concede that I wrongly labeled it as a false dichotomy, but the probabilistic reasoning remains flawed. Understanding how to make fire is an example of science-science is the process of comprehending and manipulating the physical world. The ability to understand fire-making falls within this scope. Science isn't solely about making testable predictions; it's about observing, understanding, and applying knowledge. Science isn't exclusive to the Homo genus-it's a method of inquiry and discovery that transcends species.

@oeoliverevans I was an atheist and used to say the exact same thing. Look up some Trent Horn videos. You could even try to debate him or call him on Catholic answers. Worst case scenario, you have hours of content to debunk. I think, though, on your reaction to a reaction video. That the you took the original speakers words too literally on the "church created science" he may of mis spoke. But if I was to do the same with yours, you clearly said, " he(God) doesn't exist" at 29.27 of your video. Shifting the burden of proof on to yourself. But I'm sure you mis spoke
